The Mirror and the Reflection
•
This one was not easy but neither is looking at the self reflected and seeing into the places we don’t want to see. The truth has power if you allow yourself to be seen.
•
To conceptualize the reflection of the human realm in the spirit realm we have to let go of all we think we know and trust that whatever happens is what’s best for us without fighting it. Our true nature will be reflected back to us in ways we cannot fathom until we find ourselves looking back. We know this, yet we often find ourselves fighting it, why?
•
The summer has been slow to produce tangible things, but fruitful in its lessons and wisdom. Change is constant, and I’m learning to find security in the patterns so often misconstrued as chaos. Seeing what is and not placing expectations on myself or others, being in the present moment is more beautiful when you know it will pass. The jewelry I make often reflects my experience, it is very personal and I find meaning in it. I don’t rush it anymore, I am not a machine, I am a human, and I feel a peace in it now I couldn’t find for years in the hustle. I’m glad the world slowed down a bit because I feel I finally settled into a vision I held for the last 4 years that was like a puzzle.

Happy Friday Friends! I just finished these beautiful one of a kind earrings featuring dendritic agates. The stone profile is slim and they are light on the ear. Easy to wear with little sparkles and a touch of gold to keep it classy. Want to make them yours? Contact my local representatives here in Santa Fe.
•
Two ring prototypes, sanded and almost ready for setting. Not 100% sure about them but I am going to follow through on them. I think I normally feel unsure about new designs until they are finished. I need to finish them and start on my next custom project!!!
•
It has been a weird month so far - not gonna lie. Limbo space can feel like treading water when you want to swim. A self guided career path is as challenging as it is rewarding. Right now feels hard, but easy is not usually satisfying anyways and that can be hard to remember.
I am embarking on a new project in the wake of a very busy year, after three shows. I am designing and making a handful of engagement style rings with very very amazing diamonds. I am so excited about this first one. Just ordered the gold today and I can wait to get started on it next week.
•
In the meantime I’ll be working on an experimental prototype with mixed metals and semi precious stones.
•
I have always thought I had nothing to offer in terms of bridal jewelry - it has taken me 20 years to begin to find a voice in this category. I think what it is is I see the traditional solitaire as clunky, unimaginative, and outdated. But there are very specific parameters for these types of rings. Yes I have made many beautiful custom rings for couples but I have not delved too far into developing an actual line of bridal.
•
I think it’s going to be great!
•
It truly feels like all the changes I have made are finally knitting into place, I am living my life over here on Lena St!

Both pendants feature Brazilian green tourmaline cabochons. It’s hard to tell that I spend literal hours on the setting of these cabochons. I use a more complex version of a simple bezel called a fold over bezel. It is very time consuming but there are many reasons why I choose it. After the move I had a little snafu with some equipment and let’s just say that I am glad these turned out as nicely as they did. I will deal with this on the flip side of the show next week.

It has been one hell of a haul this month of May….but I’ll make it I always do! I must just keep remembering to be grateful because it is all for nothing without that.

Spring 2024
This year has been moving at a fast pace over in Belle Brooke land! Between the website overhaul, the move to Lena Street, and two shows behind in the books so far this year, there is great momentum building as we step completely into 2024.
Next stop LAS VEGAS for our annual wholesale trade show, Luxury by JCK.
(wholesale contacts will receive a special invitation email with more information)
Right now we are busy filling orders, but I am looking forward to having creative time this summer as my new lifestyle unfolds. Now that I can walk to work I will be living my best life in my neighborhood. I love my neighborhood, it is just like me, funky and a little rough around the edges, filled with artists of all kinds and lots of good food, good coffee, yoga, bike trails, and far enough away from downtown without being far from anything except crowds. Stay tuned on my Instagram for some footage of the new space as soon as I feel it's photo ready.
About the New Website
I feel that this website reflects a more fashion forward, clean and modern look that we are seeing in cyberspace today. I loved the old website for a long time but it felt a little cluttered to me over time. I have chosen not to include pricing or selling on the new website. I wanted the online presence of Belle Brooke to feel more like a gallery and less like an online store. It is a place where you can see beautiful photos and read about my design philosophy, technique, and more.
Ok so without further adieu - here is the link: www.bellebrooke.net (http://www.bellebrooke.net)
And of course special thanks to all of those who have contributed to the website with their talent!

Cole @ Cole Image Photographics (product photography)
Nina & Stefan @ Wachs & Wright photography (look book 4 and headshots)
Tira @ Tira Howard Photography (look books 2 & 3)

And all the talented and beautiful models; Dominique and Michaela (1), Darwin and Ashley (2), Chamisa, Ebony, and Rubina (3), and Khalah and Madeline (4)
But most all of a big thank you to YOU for reading my newsletter and for your support of me and my work!

Why do I love these half circles so much? The shape is so fun to work with, and so meaningful. It speaks to the dichotomy of duality and non duality, our constant battle of being the sum of two parts, and how we navigate our perceived reality.

This particular neckpiece is inspired by fractals and has an art deco essence. Whoever thought those two could not be one was not thinking far ahead enough.

BBB
New Logo, New Website, New Location!
I am super excited to announce a bunch of things! First off my new website will be here soon! I am aiming for an online date of April 15. It will be a fashion forward modern look showcasing my most recent collections. This website will be sort of a show and tell about the work. It will not have a shopping cart, as I am working hard to maintain and grow my wholesale presence and honor those who support me through promotion on my stockist (where to buy) page.
***
Now look up at the header of this email and you will see my redesigned logo. As the new website took form I was inspired to update the logo as well. I am keeping my trademark "bbb" (my initials), and I changed the font to a deco inspired look that really matches the feel of my geometric designs.
***
Saving the best for last, I am announcing a move to a new studio location that I have been dreaming of for years. My domestic neighborhood is adjacent to an area known as "Lena Street", which is home to several different artist focused studio complexes, a few restaurants, and the best coffee shop in town. I will be moving in the beginning of April. If you would like to visit me, you can make an appointment online through the website. I know, it may seem as if I have moved a lot since I have been in Santa Fe. It was fun having the gallery, I learned so much through the experience - In the end what I really learned is that I need a quiet space to work on my jewelry, and that I am first and foremost an artist, and I feel so blessed to have found the perfect space to meet my needs.

This is a by invitation wholesale event. I will be requiring appointments at this show and also requiring deposits on orders for new business. As a mature and established designer, I am aiming to grow my business selectively in the coming years. I intend to remain an American made brand of studio/designer jewelry, available in only select locations. There will be a wholesale only email to announce more details for this show in mid May. If you are a retailer and wish to be included on my wholesale only newsletter please respond to this email with your contact information so I can add you.
Thank you for reading! I truly appreciate your feedback, always - please don't be shy to get in touch with any questions you may have.
All the best,

There is one tiny anomalie, a small silver tube snuck into one of them, I contemplated whether or not to remove it and settled on not to. Not out of laziness but as an homage to the mis-stitch in a rug, the one that proves it is truly handmade. If I made my jewelry any other way than I do this would not have happened.
•
Handcrafted jewelry is meticulously made, it takes long hours and a fierce attention to detail. Each piece, labored over, and made with love and care, is imbued with the spirit of its maker. Just like we care about the food we put in our body, we can turn our attention to what we put on our body.
•
I think I could write a whole book about value, but I will stop here and say that I am very excited to be traveling to Baltimore next week for the show, where one will find the finest selection of handmade goods like these, made by artists in many different mediums. Whether it’s the shirt you wear, the bowl you eat out of, or the jewelry you wear, it matters.

Yes, I really did use all these tools and they ended up in a pile like this…guess I can clean up now!

So psyched about this bracelet! It kinda came out of nowhere from a frame I had sitting on my bench for a year and I had been thinking bracelet??? Then it just came together so smoothly in a couple days. I guess I can’t do production everyday…sometimes you just gotta let the creativity flow when it wants to.
•
Also very excited to be going to Baltimore this year for the show. It has been 8 years!!!

Ok back to work!

Scarab 1 - hand fabricated matte finished sterling silver and 18k yellow gold with diamond melee, beryl and blue chalcedony cabochons, featuring a carved scarab in labradorite.
•
A modern take on the classic Egyptian scarab design with wings out and the beetle holding the sun. The sun is actually a ball of dung, which at first may seem repulsive, but did you know that these beetles are responsible for many ecological benefits in doing so? They fortify the soil and disperse seeds on a level that is vital to health of the soil and Earths ecosystem. The likeness of the beetle rolling the ball across the land was akin to the sun rising and setting in Egyptian culture and was a symbol of death and rebirth. Furthermore, the scarab is also a symbol of creation as the beetle lays its eggs in the ball as well, and the beetles spring forth from the balls seemingly out of nowhere. All of these things (and more - you can go much deeper into this symbology in Egyptian culture and religion), combine to make it one of the most powerful amulets from this time and culture. Creation, transformation, fertility, and the cycle death and rebirth are the themes most associated with the mighty (don’t forget they are super strong too) scarab.

Special thanks to for the beautiful capture 📸

Hello and a belated Happy New Year!
I have been very busy doing lots of different things in the jewelry business. As you may or may not know, I moved from Canyon Road and have transitioned to a by-appointment only showroom + studio in the industrial arts district in Santa Fe. While I enjoyed my time in a brick and mortar store (6 years!), ultimately it was not the best fit for me. I found that I was not getting the quiet alone time I desperately need to create magnificent pieces. For those of you visiting the area I now have a more intimate environment focused on jewelry. I am still showing Cara's beautiful Photography, and a selection of other curated items I love. All you have to do is make an appointment on the website and I will be ready for you.
Aside from running my wholesale business, I have been curating a resort store in Colorado (more on that when the time is right), getting ready to teach an online workshop, and preparing for my first retail show in 7 years.
For those of you who make jewelry you may be interested to learn more with me. I will be teaching an online workshop hosted by Pocosin Arts School of Fine Craft. We will meet together for two Saturdays (March 1 & 8, 2024) for two hours each day. I will be available through a private Facebook group during the week to answer questions and help you with the project. This is a workshop I developed and have been teaching for over 15 years! We will focus on refining our soldering and finishing technique through the process of creating a sculptural hollow ring, and at the end we will learn to flush set a faceted stone.

ACC American Craft Made show - Baltimore, MD
March 15-17, 2024
booth 444
I will be dipping my toes back into retail shows this year with the newly redesigned American Craft Made show in Baltimore this spring. It has been 7 years since I have participated in a retail show and I am excited to be back on the east coast for this show. My work has changed and grown so much over the past decade, I can't wait for you to see all the new things I have in person!
If you are going to be at the show, please respond to this email and I will make sure to email you a coupon especially for my newsletter subscribers to use at the show. If you cannot make it to the show, I can email you a code for the website.
This will be your last opportunity for a web sale - I have decided to shut down the shopping cart on my website, revamp the entire platform, and create a more curated gallery feel - so I can direct the focus more wholeheartedly on the stores and galleries who support me. I will continue to be available for private purchases through the showroom in Santa Fe and through one or two retail shows a year, as well as traveling to trunk shows at my retailers locations throughout North America. The newsletter will continue to keep you informed about these events. If you are interested in hosting an event, or have recommendations for one in your area, please let me know!

Here she is - the might scarab beetle 🪲 neckpiece! This was an epic undertaking, quite a few steps to get this design to completion. As it was something out of the box for me I wasn’t too sure on the order of operations and knew that some challenges might arise, and they did! I learned a lot about what would have been a better procedure to follow, but this time I was lucky to have the help from Ryan Roberts (don’t think he’s on this platform) who is a master goldsmith - he helped with the prongs for the beetle body as I should not have attempted to solder them on last (oops). Luckily no harm was done and I am old enough to know when to ask for help. He has incredible laser welding skills and was able to save the day! Next time (because I have three more carved beetle bodies) I will do things in a different order and attach the body to the wings last instead of earlier in the process. Why am I telling you all this? Well, I think there is something to be said about recognizing when help is called for. Also you know what is great about the jewelry industry, people help each other! There are so many variable skills to master that it’s hard to be an expert in all areas of the craft. To pretend that I can do everything or to tell you I can would be a lie. Transparency gives clarity so this is like cleaning the glass. I don’t want to lie to get you to like me, I want to be vulnerable so you can relate. A lot of the digital world is the former, but I feel like we should move past that if we want it to be a healthier place.
•
How does this relate to the beetle and why is it sacred? Well that’s a lot for one post but this piece will get more than one square. I think what stands out about this creature is how its lifestyle helps the environment around it and that is kind of what I’m getting at here, how we exist for and through the service of others. We are all connected energies and how we relate to our micro worlds is amplified in the larger macro manifestation. Are you still with me? In a nutshell it’s about the interrelation of all things…I’m super proud of this piece, and I am so glad I was able to tap into my community here for the help I needed to make it great.

"To be a creator is to work with the divine energy of the universe, I am grateful for every single day I have to do this work. I left my work as a photographer to pursue jewelry because photography 'went digital'. I was young and at the time I didn't fully see my purpose. I now know that my purpose is to create and promote traditional craftsmanship. The world is changing in so many ways, but we have to preserve these ways, to literally preserve the muscles in our bodies that do this work, and the brains that do the thinking. In the end it becomes about the adornment, but to me it is about the process, and the energy that a human puts into each piece. This way the adornment becomes more and more meaningful and the piece itself carries this power, which the wearer receives and emanates outward."
