The word "dis-ease". There are many ways to define, but to be literal, it's about a lack of ease.
This is a physical lack of ease (as in body tension and emotional tension like speaking to others that can lead to more stuttering). There may also be a lack of ease with the stuttering event or the reaction of others to the stuttering event.
As a Speech Pathologist, I am addressing this aspect of the dis-ease, but also employ a motor-training technique with feedback. If you have ease with the event, and past events - as well as the practice we assign, the putamen of the brain is less impacted by the limbic system which means (in theory) faster motor learning.
