From the organizers at Latina/x Breastfeeding Week:

Join the discussion on the current landscape of lactation in the Latino community. While the stereotype is that Latinas don't need support, rates in the US show the negative impacts of acculturation on breastfeeding duration & exclusivity.
---

There are plenty of reasons to quit smoking, both for you and your baby. You’ve probably heard about lots of them from health care providers, friends, family members, or other sources. But even if you can’t quit smoking, breastfeeding your baby is still the best choice you can make. Your milk can protect your baby from breathing problems, sudden infant death (SIDS), and poor weight gain.

Wait as much time as possible between smoking and breastfeeding. This will lower the amount of ni****ne in your milk while nursing. Smoke right after breastfeeding instead of just before

Be sure to smoke away from your baby and change your clothes to keep your baby away from the chemicals smoking leaves behind. Other people smoking around your baby (secondhand smoke) can also harm your baby's health.

Electronic ci******es, also known as "e-ci******es," "e-cigs," "v**es," or "v**e pens," may also harm your baby's health. These devices deliver ni****ne, flavorings, and other additives through an inhaled aerosol. There is limited research about the safety and health effects of e-ci******es.

When you are ready to quit:
Please contact our local To***co Ni****ne Prevention Program for support and resources. https://sonomacounty.ca.gov/health-and-human-services/health-services/divisions/public-health/tobacco-prevention/cessation-resources. Also Visit page: Impact Sonoma
