The Saranac Lake Elks Lodge, BPOE #1508, split their annual Elks National Foundation Gratitude Grant of $2500 between Adirondack Young Life and the NY Forest Ranger Foundation, two organizations serving local children and providing first responder action in the North Country respectively.
Grant monies for ADK Young Life are targeted to help fund their weekly breakfast for High School students every Thursday during the school year.
Grant monies for the Forest Ranger Foundation will go to purchase back country equipment for the Forest Rangers, equipment routinely bought by the Adirondack Forest Rangers themselves. The foundation is a new 501(c)(3) whose mission is to provide additional equipment, training and support for New York State Forest Rangers to improve their unique abilities to protect lives and resources.
