Celebrating Ronanโs 5th Birthday and Fighting Cystic Fibrosis ๐: In a beautiful display of community support and generosity, Tampa Bay area Walgreens stores are currently hosting a fundraiser in partnership with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The fundraiser, which started on August 17th, will run until the end of the month. The highlight of this campaign is a special event at Walgreens Store #2975 on N. Dale Mabry Hwy that celebrated the 5th birthday of Ronan, a courageous young boy living with cystic fibrosis who dreams of becoming a police officer. To make his day extra special, the Tampa Police Department surprised Ronan with a visit, allowing him to meet his heroes and even explore a police cruiser! ๐ This event showcases the incredible power of community and the progress being made in the fight against cystic fibrosis.

Children's Guardian Fund Bridges Digital Divide ๐ปโจ:
For youth in foster care, a laptop is a crucial tool for staying on track with their peers and reaching graduation. During National Foster Care Month and all year long, Childrenโs Guardian Fund (CGF) works to bridge this digital divide for foster children in Sarasota, Manatee, and DeSoto counties. Through its Laptop Drive, CGF has donated hundreds of computers to local youth, providing access to education, entertainment, and enrichment. This initiative is made possible through partnerships with Microsoft via the Sarasota Technology Users Group, which has refurbished over 20,000 laptops since 2004, and dedicated volunteer quilters who hand-stitch each laptop case. The Guardian ad Litem Program staff and volunteers ensure the laptops reach foster children across the three counties. HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital at Wilkinson Elementary ๐ฅ๐ค:
Medical teams from HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital brought a surgical robot to Wilkinson Elementary School. Sarasota orthopedic surgeon John Thomas, MD, demonstrated to students and their families how he uses the robot in the operating room. As part of Remake Learning Days, this hands-on educational event allowed students to use the robotic arm and system that assists surgeons with knee surgeries. The hospital also donated $1,000 to support Wilkinson Elementaryโs STEAM program, the only one of its kind in Sarasota County. Girls from the STEM Club and school leaders accepted the check with gratitude.
Children First's Flutter By Zen Butterfly Garden ๐ฆ๐ผ:
Children First proudly unveiled the Flutter By Zen Butterfly Garden in partnership with the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce and the Leadership Sarasota Class of 2024. After being selected as the nonprofit beneficiary for the annual Leadership Sarasota class project, over 45 volunteers from the community collaborated to create a relaxing and enriching environment for the children, families, and staff at Children First. The garden features essential amenities such as irrigation systems, concrete sidewalks, benches, and a patio. Philip Tavill, Children First CEO, expressed gratitude for being chosen, noting that the garden symbolizes unity and generosity in the community. Heather Kasten, Sarasota Chamber of Commerce CEO, highlighted the project as a true example of leadership and civic engagement.

Partnering with Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida, HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital and NAMI Sarasota & Manatee Counties hosted a special workshop. Girls learned positive coping skills, self-care, and how to support others. Through fun, hands-on activities, they earned their mental wellness patches and first aid badges. This program, developed in partnership with HCA Healthcare Foundation, NAMI, and Girl Scouts of the USA, promotes mental wellness and first aid awareness nationwide.
Bradenton Welcomes its First All-Inclusive ADA Playground ๐๐ :
Manatee County celebrates the grand opening of its first All-Inclusive ADA Playground at Lewis Park. Located on First Avenue West, this playground ensures children of all ages and abilities can play together. Featuring designated play areas for ages 2 to 5 and 5 to 12, along with wheelchair-accessible swings, it's a symbol of inclusivity. Thanks to the partnership between the City of Bradenton and Rotary's Suncoast Playground Projects, this $463,000 playground is now a reality.
