First Step of Sarasota, Inc.

First Step of Sarasota and county government have formed a partnership to reduce the number of inmates in the county jail and interrupt the cycle of inmates being incarcerated repeatedly. The county-funded Community Offender Rehabilitative Treatment (CORT) program aims to ease the crisis of jails warehousing people who need mental health and/or substance abuse treatment.

Position Summary: Provides assistance and supervision to clients; compiles, reviews, and files documentation of client care; communicates effectively with tech supervisor



Educational Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent



Special Skills: Clinical care experience; strong people skills to provide excellent internal and external customer service; competency in basic computer skills



Position Duties:

-Provides daily assistance to clients by performing basic physical assessments; nutritional needs analyses; providing social interaction opportunities.

-Protects clients and co-workers by adhering to infection-control and hazardous waste policies and protocols; attending required and approved educational training sessions.

-Documents client information by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information; accurately completes required paperwork procedures.

-Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping client information confidential; following established confidentiality policy and procedures; maintaining professional boundaries with clients.

-Maintains inter- and intradepartmental work flow by fostering a spirit of cooperation.

-Other duties as assigned; i.e. UA collection/testing
