Asolo Repertory Theatre, Florida’s premier professional theatre, is one of the most important cultural forces in the Southeastern United States. A center for theatrical excellence, Asolo Rep stages up to fifteen productions every season, spanning a diverse repertoire of newly commissioned plays, bold reinterpretations of contemporary and classical works, and provocative new musical theatre experiences.

Firstly, Asolo Rep’s production of 'Murder on the Orient Express', directed by Peter Amster, is playing at The Old Globe in San Deigo, California. The 'Dial M For Murder' set, costumes, and wigs made their way to the Pittsburgh Public Theatre with Céline Rosenthal Directing. And last but not least, Asolo Rep’s beloved production of 'Knoxville' is playing at the Clarence Brown Theatre in Knoxville, Tennessee through September 22, 2024. We are thrilled to see this extraordinary Asolo original back in the limelight.

The Season Kick Off Community Open House at the FSU Center for Performing Arts was a resounding success, bringing together Asolo Rep, The Sarasota Ballet, and the FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training to celebrate their single ticket release with the community. Highlights included panels from Asolo Rep Education featuring student performers from Asolo Rep's touring production of MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, a stunning live ballet class on the Mertz stage, and the screening of Billy Lyons' FSU/Asolo Conservatory documentary in the Cook Theatre, celebrating the Conservatory's 50th anniversary in Sarasota. Attendees also enjoyed a compelling panel discussion on the role of art in the community with Asolo Rep's Peter Rothstein, The Sarasota Ballet's Iain Webb, and Conservatory Director Marcus D. Johnson, along with delicious treats from Empanada Girl Food Truck. It was an exciting start to the season, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to the FSU Center for Performing Arts for more spectacular performances!

'Dancing At Lughnasa' follows the lives of the five Mundy sisters through the reflective eyes of Michael, the son of one of the sisters. With themes of family, memory, and resilience, this lyrical piece beautifully captures both joy and sorrow as the sisters navigate a changing world.

Our state-of-the-art Scenic Studio is one of the top providers of custom scenic fabrication in the country, crafting for not just Asolo Rep, but also Sarasota Opera, the Straz Center, Universal Studios, Broadway, TV, and film. And with 8,000 square feet of rentable properties, we're a hub of creativity! 🎭✨

🎭✨ The countdown to Single Ticket Day continues with another spotlight on 'Anna In The Tropics', Nilo Cruz’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play. Set in the Cuban immigrant community of 🌴 Ybor City, Tampa, during the early 20th century, the story captures the vibrant cultural life of the cigar factories. 📖 Here, lectors—respected for their literacy and cultural knowledge—read aloud to workers, blending entertainment, education, and political engagement. This practice not only connected the workers to their heritage but also fueled discussions on labor rights and independence. ✊
