CERT Academy Begins August 6!

The Santa Clara County Fire Department offers the CERT Academy to train residents on disaster preparedness skills to assist their family and neighbors when first responders are not immediately available to help. Participants will learn disaster preparedness, disaster medical operations, disaster psychology, fire suppression, light search and rescue, and terrorism awareness.

*** SARATOGA PG&E POWER OUTAGE ***

At 1:49 PM today an outage occurred affecting 1,114 customers in Los Gatos, Monte Sereno and Saratoga. This outage was a result of PG&E's Wildfire Safety - Enhance Powerline Safety Setting that are activated during High Fire Threat Season. These setting are advanced safety settings that allow their powerlines to automatically turn off within one-tenth of a second. This can happen when there’s a hazard, like a tree branch falling into a powerline.

PG&E crews have been dispatched. Upon arrival they will assess and once safe will clear the hazard and restore power to customers. The current estimated time of restoration is 11:00 PM. This can be due to the location and risk assessment needed to locate the hazard.

PG&E understands it can be hard for its customers to be without power and will do everything to restore customers as safely and as efficiently as possible.

Join the City Parks and Recreation Commission on Saturday, June 22 at 8:00 a.m. for an out-and-back hike along Saratoga’s Quarry Park Trail. Hikers will meet at the Quarry Park parking lot at 22000 Congress Springs Road at 7:50 a.m. for an 8:00 a.m. departure. The planned route is a relatively steep 1.2 miles and moderately challenging. It should take slightly more than two hours to complete.
