Sunset's Bar
Bar
You have to stay in good shape to run the greatest karaoke bar in the land. Clearly, our efforts playing pickleball are paying off! Doug's body has never looked so good?!

It's true...we got our tickets for getting second place on the KQRS Karoake Cruise...we weren't asked to come on stage, but we got to watch a great show for free! Not too shabby. Would have sung this song if they asked.

Do you think Doug ever had a chance of being "normal". We went shopping today with my parents. Of course my dad noticed these "balloons" and had to make a comment about their "size". So...of course we're going to take this picture.

Clearly Phillip Philips (winner of American Idol 11th season) has heard about Sunset's Bar and wanted to get in. He did a performance for us today and is telling you all that THIS is the bar to be found in. Enjoy this cover of Maneater he did...for any guy who's ever been hurt by a woman...this songs for you. Ouch!

"All New Saturday" (which became a Sunday) Karoake event last night....If you ever thought "will we ever run out of music to sing?"...last night proved it not so. Tom has some serious "Devo" issues...who knew Peek A Boo could be played in the bar?

Sunset's was excited to host a "wedding happy hour" yesterday for Scott and Emily. We'd like to thank Kari's sisters for contributing and for Emily's mother joining in the festivities. The men drank beer and gave insightful comments meant both to enlighten and entertain.
What just happened last night? It starts out as a family gathering and turns into a reunion of the Jackson 5?!! We had so much fun with Tom's family. Can these people have any more musical talents? Finally got the legend from the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame Band "The Swinging Ambassadors" into Sunset's.
Thanks, America, for having a birthday and giving us a reason to celebrate!

It's not often you capture the moment of dreams realized? Never been happier to get 2nd place in our lives!

First of all, happy birthday to the co-owner of Sunset's Bar, Kari Laska! As if Friday nights karaoke cruise wasn't enough music for the weekend, we got the chance to go to The Revolution concert last night at First Avenue in honor of the 40th anniversary of the release of Purple Rain. We'd like to thank our good friend "Dr." Fink for scoring us the best seats ever and after party passes. So much fun! Let's go crazy.

For some reason we can't get off this paddle boat in St. Paul? We decided to take Sunset's on the road again and brought the karaoke to the people on the KQRS Karaoke Cruise. Guess what?We took 2nd place!!!!! Holy crap. There was honestly more than two people singing. Lots more actually. Doug and Tom got a "you guys were f*****g awesome" from Steve Gorman , the morning show host at KQ and ex drummer from the rock group The Black Crowes. Here is the second song we did. Please note the 95 year old woman, using the walker, who enters the room during the early part of the song was NOT one of the contestants. Oh...we also won tickets to the Def Leppard and Journey show in August! Clearly all this practicing at Sunset's is paying off!
Just saw this picture on Love105FM radio stations website. It's not often you get to have a front row seat to a proposal and shining a light on love? This woman proposed to this guy right in front of us at our "prom" last weekend. It truly was "The Love Boat"

A little party (prom) never killed nobody?! We'd like to thank Love 105 Radio Station for hosting Sunset's Bar for their prom cruise.

What better way to start out the summer music series than with our "60's theme". Kinda appropriate since the people who are having birthdays being celebrated are nearing 60. What a night...which turned into the next day...what a long strange trip it's been!

We were just informed of this horrible news that happened a few weeks ago. Shigeichi Negishi died at the age of 100. Many of you might be asking "who the hell is Shigeichi Negishi?" Well, if you've spent any time at Sunset's...you owe this man a bit of gratitude for the memories here. Please read this article. He should seriously get a Nobel Peace Prize. He's done more to help humans get along than almost anyone we've ever known.
The Inventor of Karaoke Has Died, But His Legacy Is Louder Than Ever Rob Sheffield pays tribute to Shigeichi Negishi, whose invention of the karaoke machine "Sparko Box" changed the soundtrack of our lives forever.
Enough of the field trips lately, back to our jobs! We'd like to thank our friends for joining us last night. It's safe to say we've got a few new people who will be joining us at our karaoke addiction support group.
Can check this off the "to do list". Starved Rock State Park in Illinois was amazing.
The owners of Sunset's Bar decided to take a field trip away from the bar recently. It was a music themed trip. We'd like to thank Cities 97 for inviting us to a private party. That was cool. We also had fun at our 2024 Prom. Great band, I think that guy on keyboards might become something someday? Oh..lastly, the BEE GEE's are a thing.
Dang, another birthday party in the books at Sunset's Bar. We'd like to thank all of you for having birthdays every year. It gives us a reason to do this. Nice merchandise from Jordan Brewing Company!

If you were lucky, you would have seen KD And The Sunset's Band perform last night at Sunset's Bar! We'd like to thank Kevin Bacon for showing up too! That's the Way (I Like It)

Sunset's Bar had to host the 40th high school reunion of Simley High School 1984 (Go Spartans!). Saying "40" out loud was a bit of a moment. Yikes?! I want to thank these guys for being in my life since grade school.
What would a February be without Palm Springs? It would not be this and that would be a bummer.
You can stick a fork in it. The 2024 Man's Film Festival is now done! We'd like to thank Kevin Bacon for attending the viewing of his movie Tremors! Monster movies were the theme this year. Super fun day, however, a little tough on the rump.
FINALLY! So proud of our son and his new fiancee. He asked her at Minnehaha Falls a few days ago. Can't think of a better place to ask someone to spend the rest of your life with them. Oh, by the way, Emily recently graduated from St. Catherine's University with her Physician Assistant degree.

We'd like to thank Neal for having a birthday yesterday. From what we're being told, he has one of these every year about the same time? That being said, we'll probably do this again. Thanks also to Scott and Michelle for dropping over. Yes, you now have an addiction to singing. You're powerless against it. Just buy the machine and get it over with. 😎. You can always come back to, that's just as easy?
We just wanted to say "THANKS" to all those who have sent us Christmas cards this season. We didn't do any cards this year because we're just kinda lame and got too busy. So, consider this your Christmas card from the owners! Hope everyone has a good Christmas!
