When I travel, it’s important to me to see the country, people, and culture. I went to book an excursion to see a lot of highlights of the island, just to find out everything was closed due to the damage from Hurricane Beryl. While I was disappointed, I love that I was able to experience a little at Sandals St. Vincent restaurant, Buccan, which is a 4 course family style dinner that serves the island’s local cuisine.

If you look at my story, I spoke too soon. I have been up since 5:15am working and traveling, so I’m exhausted. While I did walk right through customs, my 9:00pm flight home from Miami was delayed twice and now doesn’t fly out until tomorrow afternoon. Just a few tips when it comes to traveling:

1️⃣ Always buy insurance so when things like this come up you’re covered.
2️⃣ Be flexible and don’t have any expectations, because things out of our control happen.
3️⃣ Book with a travel advisor (aka ME 🙋🏼‍♀️). Instead of standing in line for hours like SO MANY people were, I thankfully was able to skip that headache and get to my hotel.
4️⃣ Choose to look at the positives. I am thankful for so many things; the flight was delayed on the way home instead of to my destination, I didn’t have to wait in the rebooking line, I met a sweet family on the way to the hotel who let me share an Uber with them after waiting for almost an hour for the hotel shuttle, sleeping in a bed instead of the airport floor, and a complimentary cookie to eat from the hotel.
