On this National Doctors Day, and every day, we thank all of our SVI Surgeons for their compassion and dedication to improving and saving the lives of so many in our community and surrounding areas. Healthcare today is more complex than ever. With more advancements, tools, and information at their fingertips, doctors have an overwhelming job to diagnose and treat their patients. In every city and hospital, in our military, and in our rural communities, doctors pave the way to better healthcare for their patients.
Today, March 30th is National Doctors' Day, an observance aimed at appreciating physicians who help save our lives everywhere. The holiday first started in 1933 in Winder, Georgia, and since then, it has been honored every year on March 30th which was the first anniversary of Dr. Crawford W. Long using ether anesthesia. Today we continue to celebrate medical advances like these and thank all doctors everywhere who have spent so much time and energy mastering their field of expertise.

Veins require movement to optimally function. So when a patient is injured, sick or has surgery, they are not moving as well - and the risk of DVT goes up. This is the same for long distance travel when one does not move their legs over the course of hours. Cancer is a risk factor for DVT. Finally, some people have genetic or acquired blood clotting disorders that make them more prone to DVT. For more information call our office at 912.352.VEIN (8346) or visit our website at savannahvascular.com

A DVT is dangerous because the clot can partially or completely block the flow of blood through a vein. If left untreated a DVT can be life threatening. For more information please go to our website savannahvascular.com or call our office at 912.352.VEIN (8346)
