The Glute Recruit will forever be my baby but it’s time for a rebrand! ✨
When I first started The Glute Recruit, I was so focused on just that - recruiting and shaping glutes! As I continue to quench my thirst for knowledge about the body, I’ve developed more of a lifelong sustainability approach to fitness, health and wellness.
It’s not just about having a good looking bum or having a 6 pack.
It’s about having a fully functioning brain so you can excel at work and make quick thinking decisions when you’re driving. It’s about feeling energized and mobile so you can run to catch the train without hurting yourself. It’s about being strong for when you need to move something without assistance. It’s about becoming more aware of how your body feels under pressure both physically and mentally. It’s about exploring past experiences and how they can shape your behaviors and thought patterns. It’s about learning the science of nutrition and exercise and how it specifically works for your body. It’s about slowing down the process of aging internally and preserving your organs. It’s about your health and not just your looks. It’s about longevity and vitality.
Presenting to you - JB Vitality.
Not sleeping well? Try one or all of these 5 suggestions to better improve your night’s rest. My clients have found great success when they incorporated these tactics into their PM routine. I’ve personally found success with being off all electronics for 1.5 hours before bed in addition to taking a warm shower before bed for better temperature regulation during sleep 😴
Having good quality sleep is essential for overall health, fitness and wellness. The days of “I’ll sleep when I’m dead” are long gone and the research backs it up!
The only guarantee for failure is to stop trying.
We choose what attitudes we have right now. And it’s a continuing choice.
Change is inevitable. Growth is optional.
Don’t ever be impressed with goal setting; be impressed with goal getting. Reaching new goals and moving to a higher level of performance always requires change and change feels awkward. But take comfort in the knowledge that if a change doesn’t feel uncomfortable, then it’s probably not a real change.
Loving these words of wisdom from and all have the same theme - ultimately you determine if and how to change!
Last work day before Christmas break!! 🎅🏼🧑🏼🎄🎄 Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night ❤️❤️❤️

We have more research than ever about the positive effects of exercise on our bodies. A recent study highlighted by concluded that people who exercise live longer and better. In fact, that study concluded that the participants who engaged in exercise 1-2 times a week decreased their mortality rate by 40% in comparison to those who did not exercise 🤯
I always tell my clients there are so many things we cannot control yet there are so many things that we can. Focusing on the things you can control instead of the things you cannot control makes all the difference both physically and mentally!
The American Heart Association (AHA) recently announced that “Break My Soul” by Beyonce and “You’re Losing Me” by Taylor Swift were added to the CPR library by the American Heart Association. If you need to perform CPR on someone, these songs are the perfect cadence for chest compressions ❤️
Other songs recognized and certified by the AHA include Stayin’ Alive by The Bee Gees, Dancing Queen by ABBA and Bad Romance by Lady Gaga.

As the winter approaches, it’s important to revisit your daily routines to preserve your health both mental and physical. If you get the winter blues, here are 4 tips to help combat them:
1. Exercise at least 3-5 times a week. Research shows that exercise helps combat depression like symptoms.
2. Stay socially connected with friends so you don’t feel isolated. If you can’t meet in person, plan a virtual catch up!
3. We take in less sun during the winter which can lead to Vitamin D deficiency. Low Vitamin D can cause aches and pains for some. Be in tune with your body!
4. Take the time to invest in yourself and do something that you thoroughly enjoy. Read a book, learn a new skincare routine - do something for you to promote an active and positive mind!

Do you inhale through your nose or through your mouth? 🧐
Breath by James Nestor - a reminder of how we’ve forgotten how to breathe properly! Some of us have defaulted to mouth breathing which can lead to snoring, sleep apnea and other undesired conditions. Inhaling through the nose provides many benefits including increase in overall circulation and improved deep sleep.
This book is very informational. It’s science driven, evidence based with a splash history about the evolution of breathing. Breathing is an automatic function that we take for granted.
Now take a long breath in through your nose, exhale through your mouth and buy this book!
If you exercise at home or are looking to start, here are the fitness essentials you need for your home workout space!

Atomic Habits by James Clear has been all over my Instagram feed and now I know why. This is one of the best books I’ve ever read. There is a vast amount of helpful information accompanied by graphs and illustrations. This book helps us to understand why we do the things we do and how to create change for desired behaviors. This is a must read!
The name of the book says it all.
“Why Diets Make Us Fat” written by Sandra Aamodt, PHD is a book of helpful thought processes and research about the different factors (including being forced to diet as a child and eating heavily processed foods) that can contribute to unhealthy weight gain. If you are struggling with getting to a healthier weight and you are still looking for that lightbulb moment, you’ll want to read this book!
Are your workouts actually working? Checkout my convo with to find out! You can find the full article via the link in my bio.
“What To Say When You Talk To Yourself” written by is a must read.
Your body internalizes what you say to it. What you say to yourself affects how your brain is wired and how it thinks. Your body believes what you tell it and the more you think and repeat the same thoughts, the more those thoughts will be engrained in you.
This book has so many valuable lessons including one of my favorite topics: motivation. The way you talk to yourself and feel about yourself plays a role in your motivation.
Speak to yourself kindly and in a positive manner. Chances are motivation will come quicker than having to waste time and search for it!
Let’s talk about fitness in menopause…
Weight gain, joint pain, brain fog and loss of muscle mass are just some of the many symptoms women experience during menopause. For years we have been trained to think that when our body goes through a change in composition, we have to engage in more vigorous exercise and slash calories to fix it. Doing more cardio and eating less calories can do more harm than good. Your body is already in a state of chaos and needs stability and nourishment.
In working with women in menopause, I can tell you that their fitness regimen is different from someone that’s in their 20’s and 30’s. They’ve made the necessary changes and stuck with them. No dieting or overexercising. You just have to tweak your routine to meet where your body where it is. Change is still possible with the right tools!
WE ARE GROWING! 👏🏻🎉
I’ve been training and coaching women in health and fitness for 10+ years and I have been very fortunate enough to have been fully booked with 1-1 personal training. However, I’m yearning to help more women! That’s why TGR is expanding to different virtual options so you can work with us even if it’s not in person.
Cheers to the next chapter of The Glute Recruit. Don’t get me wrong - it’s still my duty to shape that b***y BUT it’s time to get that ass strong and healthy for life 💪🏻
She is beauty and she is grace ✨
Congratulations to my client for competing in her first pageant!
I absolutely loved working with you during this prep! It takes balls to step on stage and strut your stuff. Your confidence shined and you worked your ass off. I am so proud of you ❤️
There are so many avenues in the world of fitness and all of them serve its own purpose at its own time. But regardless of all of the different types of workouts that are out there, I strongly suggest that women add weight lifting to their workout regimen. Weight lifting is primarily known for muscle building and yet there are so many other important benefits women need to consider:
1. Keeps bones strong
2. Helps metabolism stay efficient
3. Improves brain function
4. Improves posture
5. Reduce onset of future injuries
As you age, you lose muscle and you need to have muscle to keep your body upright! If you can slow down the aging process and reduce your chances of becoming fragile in the future, why wouldn’t you take advantage?

Are you doing tons of cardio yet you don’t look “lean”?
Then it’s time to incorporate strength training into your workout routine!
Lifting weights promotes muscle growth. More muscle = more fat burn which is needed to in order to get lean. Train smart, not hard!
Lifting weights also has many benefits including:
- Improves bone strength and density
- Keeps immune system strong
- Stress reduction
- Boots metabolism
- Promotes mental clarity
- Keeps heart strong
You won’t get bulky from lifting weights. Let’s break that stigma and normalize women training 💪🏻
