Powerful! The Wind Ensemble Concert is tomorrow! Friday, May 3, 7:30 PM, SUNY Schenectady, Carl B. Taylor Auditorium. Free Admission. Directed by Dr. Allyson Keyser, Professor, School of Music Featuring the world-premiere of “Heroes,” by Olivia Wilkerson Performing Arts: Music & Music Audio Technology major “Dedicated to my mother, Lisa Wilkerson, because she was the one who suggested I arrange it for a larger ensemble after thoroughly enjoying the original piano solo composition. My mom and dad are huge supporters of my music and my artistry, and both are heroes in my life. I took inspiration for this piece from my favorite movie composers like Blake Neely, Michael Giacchino, Hans Zimmer, Ludwig Goransson, and Pinar Toprak. I love superhero themes that are simple yet noble. I wrote this piece to be a swashbuckling, energetic number that will arouse emotions of triumph, warmth, and a sense of accomplishment and self-achievement.” Olivia Wilkerson Other works by Blackshaw, Kevin Day, Gustav Holst, and Omar Thomas.
