Engineered for speed: Union College faculty discuss the science behind Formula 1 racing
Fans of of Formula 1 gathered on campus to watch the Oct. 29th Mexico City Grand Prix and learn about the history and engineering behind the popular sport.
Jennifer Currey, associate professor of biomedical engineering, discussed track, car, and barrier design in regards to the safety of the drivers, from a biomedical engineering standpoint. Nick Webb, associate professor of computer science, offered a beginner’s guide to F1 racing, discussing the sport's history and cultural significance.

“Caleb Cole: Present Absences,” explores issues of queer identity and belonging
“Caleb Cole: Present Absences,” featuring selections from two bodies of the artist’s work, explores ideas about queerness, presence and absence through the expanding medium of photography. The exhibition is on display at the Crowell and West Galleries in the Feigenbaum Center for Visual Arts through November 23.
Earlier this term, Cole and the show’s curators, Aylin Ergun ’26 and David Ogawa, associate professor of art history and department chair, shared reflections on the exhibition and the value of community.
