Summer Research Spotlight: 📖 Alex Roginski ’26 is conducting research on graphic narratives, specifically two retellings of “David and Goliath.” Through this work, Roginski, a double major in English and physics, is studying the relationship between illuminated medieval manuscripts and contemporary graphic novels. Demolition began today on the former Phi Delta Theta House after years of being plagued by structural and mechanical issues. Built in 1914, the house overlooking the 50-yard line at Frank Bailey Field has been largely vacant since 2012.
Philip Boyce ’96, alumni president of the fraternity since 1999, said news of the demolition did not come as a surprise. “It will be sad to see it go,” said Boyce, who lived in the house beginning in his sophomore year. “But I knew it was going to happen at some point. It was great when we had it, and I’m glad I had the opportunity to live there.”

This spring, students in CLS 202 - Archaeological Methods with Prof. Angela Commito visited the Schenectady County Historical Society to talk about cultural heritage and public engagement in the study and preservation of the past.
The course involves original research through hands-on experiences, including architectural drawing, spatial analysis, archival research, isotopic analysis, demographic fieldwork, 3D modeling, and museum exhibition design.

Students are interning at many organizations, including the Schenectady County Historical Society, the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and The Foundry, a Medtech incubator, to name a few.

Eight rising seniors are participating in the Summer Clinical Immersion Program, a partnership between Union’s Department of Electrical, Computer & Biomedical Engineering and the Office of Translational Research, Innovation and Technology Transfer (OTR) at Albany Medical College. Participants rotate through clinical departments, observing needs that might be addressed by new or better technologies or biomedical innovations. Students will develop their ideas during their senior year engineering capstone design course.
The program is supported by the Beno Sternlicht '50 Endowed Fund for Student Learning in Innovation. Albany Med Health System

Tonight’s celebration at Mohawk Harbor was full of community, reunions and Union College pride! It was a privilege to welcome members of the 2014 Union College Men's Hockey team back to Schenectady!
Champions in the winner’s circle! 🏆 Members of the 2014 Men’s Hockey National Championship team spent the afternoon at Saratoga Race Course. The team signed autographs, met with fans, and were honored with a named race and Riders Up call.
Today kicks off a two-day celebration of the 10-year anniversary of the 2014 Division I Men’s Hockey National Championship. Members of the team began the morning signing a steel plate at Mohawk Harbor, the site of the new arena where the Union men’s and women’s ice hockey programs will begin play in Fall 2025. They then returned to campus for a player panel, reflecting on their 2014 memories and lives after Union.
Fans, youth athletes, faculty, staff and alumni are invited to join the team tomorrow at Mohawk Harbor for a community celebration. Enjoy a meet-and-greet, commemorative giveaways, autograph signings, food trucks and more!
