ROAD TRIP: Father's Day 3 day trip

Friday June 14, Check in at Das Meyer Haus, head to El Vaquero #2 for an early dinner, 8 PM Bugle Boy for the Bob Livingston Concert ("HE’S CEREBRAL AND A LITTLE BIT FERAL, EVOKING THE KIND OF CHARACTERS YOU’D SPOT SHUFFLING THROUGH THE LOUVRE IN SNAKESKIN BOOTS OR RECITING LINES FROM KAFKA TO A REDBONE COONHOUND.” — COWBOYS AND INDIANS MAGAZINE)

Saturday June 15: Breakfast and coffee at Tillies, walk to Grahmann's Hardware to check out hardware shopping in Downtown Schulenburg, poke around the Emporium Antiques, cross the tracks to the Stanzel Museum to re-live childhood days of rubber band planes, catch a BBQ lunch at City market (get there by 11:30 or they may run out, take a run out to a real dairy to buy cheese and milk (4 E Dairy (LIra Rossa Cheese) or Stryk Dairy - both are on the honor system; check out what's playing at the Lyric Theater in Flatonia and stay for dinner at The Red Vault.

Sunday: Breakfast at Darlin's Diner in Flatonia, head to the grocery store to stock up for your trip home, lunch at Majek Winery, after lunch take your time to get home using the back roads.

Girls' Weekend Getaway
We had a perfect girls' weekend at the beautifully restored Das Meyer Haus. The old-fashioned decor was lovely. Schulenburg has nice restaurants & coffee shops but is still a quiet small town. The house was fully stocked with anything and everything we could need. It was also very clean. We LOVED it.

Das Meyer Haus vs. Painted Churches
Das Meyer Haus exceeded my expectations and I would give six stars if I could. It is clear that a lot of thought was given to detail. In addition, the preservation of the history of this home takes you back in time, if it weren't for the well-equipped office to meet modern day needs. Everything from the time I made this reservations, until I shut the front door as I left, was done professionally and with ease. It was my sister's 78th birthday and we had a blast. We joked as we left that we weren't sure what we enjoyed the most, The Painted Churches or Das Meyer Haus. At the end on the check-out instruction sheet, Rochelle and Jess wrote to let them know if there was anything else they could do. I jokingly told my sister: yes, they can give me this house! I will be arranging another trip to stay there with friends. Thank you Rochelle and Jess

Amazing Hospitality
We so enjoyed our 4 days at Das Meyer House! The home is so comfortable, as well as beautifully furnished. The host has thought of every detail of hospitality. Nothing was lacking! The fully furnished office was a bonus as we were doing research, and included a computer with full-size monitor, printer and office supplies. My husband and I slept in the room with 2 queen size beds. Both were very comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need for preparing small to large meals. I love the host provides paper plates, cups and plastic utensils, as well as beautiful dinnerware for a more elegant meal, if so desired. All appliances small and large are top quality. Cleanliness of the home was a 10 out of 10. We would definitely choose this rental the next time we are in the area.
