Good information about parking and driving around town this weekend for the 2024 Scituate Heritage Days.

August 2nd, 3rd and 4th are Scituate Heritage Days. We look forward to an outstanding weekend of community events in the harbor district and encourage everyone to support our local merchants. There will be plenty of food, music, and family fun! When planning your visit to Heritage Days, the Scituate Police Department asks that you keep a few essential considerations in mind:

• Parking regulations & restrictions will be strictly enforced throughout the harbor and waterfronts areas.

• Parking on Kent Street will be limited to the east shoulder of the northbound lane of the roadway.

o Additionally, parking will not be permitted on Edward Foster Rd., Vinal Ave., Meetinghouse Ln., Greenfield Ln., Otis Place. and Allen Place – as well as other roadways as indicated.

o Cones, barricades, or signs will designate all restricted parking areas.

• Residents and visitors should anticipate periods of heavy congestion in the harbor area throughout the weekend.

• Those planning to attend Heritage Day's events are strongly encouraged to utilize the free shuttle bus service, which will run continuously from the Greenbush MBTA parking lot.

o On Saturday and Sunday, there will be FREE PARKING and 2 free, handicap-accessible SHUTTLE BUSES departing from the Greenbush Commuter Rail Station on Driftway.

o The shuttle buses will drop off at the corner of Front Street and Otis.

• Front Street, across from Allen Place, will provide access to the Mill Wharf Restaurant and shops' parking area.

• Otis Place, east of Front Street, will be closed to through traffic.

• Visitors to Heritage Days are reminded that public consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited throughout the Town of Scituate and will be strictly enforced.

• The Scituate Police Department and our law enforcement partners will be on hand throughout the event to help ensure the safety and security of attendees, but we can't do it alone.

o Please remember that if you observe unsafe or concerning behavior, you are urged to inform an officer or to call 911 immediately.

The Purple Dinosaur Park (618 Old Country Way) should open very soon and when it does visitors will be greeted with these hidden historical gems: Dozens of the original dinosaur footprints leading to the park! The concrete footprints were part of a fundraising effort when the park opened nearly 3 decades ago! Over time they were completely covered by grass and haven't been seen in years! Take a look!

And a HUGE shout-out to Mike Breen with the Town of Scituate's Highway Division who has been uncovering each footprint and cleaning each one. He plans to repaint them with their original purple color too!
