Earlier this week, the Scituate Town Library hosted a ceremony to unveil the LTJG John P. Connors Navy Memorial Paddle and its new home in the Library's local history room. The Scituate Library Foundation is proud to have contributed to the project by helping fund the display case that gives the important piece a home in our library.

Thanks to the many contributions of our community at the spring Mini Golf Fundraiser, one of the first improvements to the Children's & Teen's Rooms at the Scituate Town Library is in place for the summer: the new gaming table for teens to enjoy!

We're thrilled to announce the arrival of our brand-new Infinity Gameboard table! This state-of-the-art addition is set to bring endless fun and interactive gaming experiences to our teen space. From classic board games to the latest digital adventures, there's something for every teen to enjoy!

Our Mini Golf Fundraiser event has a goal to raise funds to support several improvements to the Children's and Teen's Room spaces. Some of the projects we'd like to help fund include:

+ Replacing worn out furniture with durable new pieces.
+ Purchasing additional sensory play panels for the new Lighthouse Learning Corner to keep this piece engaging and evolving.
+ Funding technology to keep our Children's and Teen's Room current, including starting a new collection of kids educational tablets and investing in a digital game table for the teen room.

Many thanks to all who attended the opening celebration of Thoreau's Waye! This project was a collaborative effort between the Goulding Family, the Scituate Town Library, the Community Preservation Committee and the Scituate Library Foundation, designed with the hope that it will be an outdoor community gathering space for years to come.

The Scituate Library Foundation is proud to announce that it has received a donation of over $150,000 from the Estate of Gloria Negri. The gift marks the largest donation in the Foundation’s history. “This incredibly generous gift ensures the Scituate Town Library will be a vital and vibrant community resource for years to come,” says Joe McNally, President of the Scituate Library Foundation. “We are honored to memorialize Gloria and recognize her lifelong passion for sharing knowledge and information with the world.”

Negri, a Scituate resident, was a pioneer for women in journalism, reporting for The Boston Globe for 53 years. Over five decades, her byline was a staple of The Boston Globe where she covered the Apollo moon shots, political conventions, the civil rights tumult of the 1960s, and spent a year covering South Africa then still in the grip of apartheid.

Gloria Negri’s gift to the Scituate Library Foundation will assist in funding future capital projects and improvements to the Scituate Town Library.
