Scott County EMS has an immediate opening for the position of Director of EMS and Hospital Emergency Preparedness. This position requires at certification level of Advanced EMT or Paramedic and is a full-time salaried position. Any questions can be directed to the HR Department at Scott County Hospital or our outgoing Director Kris Logsdon at 620-874-1611

Our Director was able to make it by this lemonade stand today. These young ladies are selling lemonade and cookies to pay for their pool entries this summer. Stop by and pick up some cookies and lemonade. Corner of Elizabeth and 11th.

If you have or know of any lemonade stands in Scott this summer, please reach out and we will make every effort to stop by and support all the young kids!!!

If your child has a lemonade (or refreshment) stand this summer and is in need of some visitors, feel free to send us a message - advance notice is great if possible! We can't make any promises due to the nature of the job, but we will do our very best to stop by. We love visiting our youth and making their day as much as they make ours.

Scott Co EMS will be offering a two day Pediatric CPR/First Aid course for Daycare providers on June 3rd & 6th. Class will start at 630pm and will run for 2-3 hours each night. Cost for the course is $30 per student. Limited number of spots. If you wish to reserve your spot call 872-5284. We must have your $30 fee by May 28th to reserve your place in the class. 🚑

Exciting day for Scott County EMS and . Your new ambulance is fully stocked, licensed and ready to respond to 911 calls. As exciting as this is, let’s make sure that you are not the first to ride in this truck.

Anyone in town with a tractor that could come move snow from our parking lot so we can get the ambulances out tonight? The city and county are unable to get here tonight.

UPDATE: Hwy 83 is closed from Garden City to Oakley

If you do not have to be out today, please stay home. There are several roads shut down and lots of cars in the ditches. Visibility is about 10 feet currently on the roads!

Do not forget that tonight at 6:30 here at the EMS station is our EMR Informational Meeting. We will be discussing all things EMR class and have applications here for you to fill out for the class. Please share and spread the word and lets fill the room tonight with those interested in taking the EMR course that starts next month!!

Scott County EMS is excited to announce that we are hosting an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course. This course is the most basic level of EMS certification. This course will be starting on 11/6/2023 and will run to approximately 4/1/2024. You will be required to attend class on Monday and Thursday evenings from 6:50p-10:50p both of those nights. This course is much shorter than the EMT course.

We are still working on the final cost of this course, however there will be scholarships available for everyone who would like to take the class to help offset any out of pocket expense.

In order to enroll in this course, I am hosting a community information meeting on 10/5 at 6:30p here at the EMS station. It is HIGHLY recommended to attend this meeting. We will have all details ready and available at this meeting., including the final costs.

If you are interested, please reach out to me and let me know so that I can get an idea of the interest in the class. Please share this with anyone that you know who might be interested in getting involved in EMS here in our community.

I want to personally thank our EMS team, local FD, Sheriff office, KHP, Garden City FD, our local dispatcher and all the others who assisted us this morning with our high angle rescue. We could not do what we do if it wasn’t for all those who assist us each day. When a call for help goes out, it is these people who go running to answer that call.

When I came to Scott County, I made a promise that I would do my best to continue to improve on the quality of care that we provide to our citizens. Part of that is achieved with new training, new protocols as well as new equipment.

I am excited to announce our newest piece of equipment. This is a Lucas 3 CPR Device. This was purchased in part by a grant as well as the funds that you gave during the community day of giving. I am excited to announce that this piece of equipment was officially placed into service today on our first out ambulance.

We were also able to secure a second Lucas device that the State of Kansas had acquired from a service that closed. That Lucas was secured free of charge to Scott County EMS and once we receive it, it will be placed in our Rapid Response/Command Vehicle.

SCEMS is looking to gauge interest for an EMT class this year. This class would run from September to April. It would require you to attend class 2 nights per week for approximately 2-4 hours each class. (236 hours total instruction)

We would like to invite you to join us at the EMS station on Maarch 21st at 6pm as we will be having a going away party for them.
