Homeless Outreach

We are so blessed by our donors- and the donuts we receive are no exception! Here we are gathering up today's donation. Some will be bagged and placed in community fridges, some will go directly to our friends living on the street at this week's outreach. Feel free to join our Facebook group to see how we will be using our other donations this week! Most of our content and events will be highlighted in that group. Here we are doing our Friday donut pickup. They smell amazing!

Just in time for a record cold night- The Family Fork was able to pass out several hundred gloves, blankets, sleeping bags, socks, tents and other warm items! We also had plenty of donuts and drinks on hand for everyone. Thank you to anyone that shared with us so that all of our new friends can stay warm and safe tonight.

Hey Phoenix! If you have any new or gently used items of warmth laying around that you would like to donate to someone in need this season, please consider us. We are accepting most any in kind donation- such as coats, sweatshirts, blankets, mittens, socks, scarves, etc. We are able to come meet or pick up in most of the phoenix area. Your items will be given directly to someone who lives outside in the very cold nights this season! Please send us a message, we would love to bless someone with your donations!

The Family Fork has been making a lot of changes and growing very quickly! We started by serving a group of about 15 people and we are now looking at serving over 100 this week! We have also been working with several other outreaches in the area and have been utilizing the community fridges with all of our extra food! This Saturday's outreach will be our biggest yet! If you are interested in learning more, cooking or volunteering to serve food, we would love to meet you! Please join us in our Facebook GROUP for more information and details on our outreaches, or send a message to Stacy Mast or Kelli Poole. Helping people heals the soul!

We try our very best to make tasty and healthy food for our outreaches! Here's some banana nut muffins we made this week!

Bigger outreaches call for bigger batches! We just made SEVEN batches of banana walnut muffins at once. Annabella's arm was sore from all that mixing! They're so yummy, our new friends are going to love them! Afterwards we did a little photo shoot for fun to show off how delicious they look. On to the next recipe... our next huge outreach is coming up on October 28th! If you'd like to make something to donate or come help us serve, please message Stacy Mast or Kelli Poole for details - we'd love to have you join us! It's only been a week, but it feels like ages since we've been out doing good things! That's enough of a break for us! Today we assembled a bunch of turkey & cheese and bologna & cheese sandwiches, cut up and packaged four flats of strawberries, and delivered a whole bunch of shelf stable goods and drinks to the community fridges around Phoenix! Someone offered up their lawn and electricity to provide these for the hungry folks in the area. What a blessing! Anyone can bring donations- so we loaded up and visited two different outdoor pantries! A grandmother and her grandchildren came to pick up some food while we were at the second pantry, and the little girl melted my heart by describing to me me exactly how she would be preparing the elbow macaroni she took from our bin. It involved sauce, cheese, and even herbs! Here's some photos of today's adventure....

On our mid-week outreach this week we met many new faces including Steven. Steven is a disabled vet who is now homeless. He's been kicked out of more than 10 spots he's been sleeping in this month alone- including out in the desert! After all of that- he was still smiling and full of jokes for us! We brought him a hot meal and some other supplies, including a tent that was donated to us by our dear friend Lisa. He was so grateful, but that's not enough. I contacted the US Department of Veterans Affairs and got a bunch of other numbers to call for departments that help homeless vets. We're learning as we go! We plan on continuing to help Steven in any way we can- he's such a sweetheart!!

Every week when we show up to the park they're waiting for us. They start smiling. They gather at the table. They know they'll get a good meal, some supplies and treats, and great conversation. For that evening- were all FAMILY. ❤️

Last week's outreach was amazing! So many people were fed! Here's a few photos. Sign up to volunteer at this Saturday's outreach by joining our Facebook group (also called the Family Fork.) New volunteers are always welcome!

Just look at what just a little rain does to the park in one day! The peacocks were trudging through the mud to get to the shade. The water comes almost all the way up to the tables we use. I'm hoping it dries out a bit before this weekend! 🤞🙏
