And they're off! The Desert View High School Home Healthcare CTE Building had their Ground Breaking Ceremony, and we're so excited to see this project completed towards the end of this year!

It is our passion to serve the students of Arizona, and this project is just one example of how SPS+ is a premiere partner in providing quality education and training to current and future generations. We're so excited to see this project come to life for future Desert View Jaguars!

The new building will serve as a beacon of hope for many students who aspire to make a career in the healthcare industry, creating an environment conducive to learning, growth, and success.

They did it! Mountain View High School won the Real Estate Development award for best K-12 project of the year. We're so excited!! Thank you to Mesa Public Schools and Chasse Building team for the incredible partnership to see this project come to life. The ribbon cutting ceremony is in just a couple of short weeks!!

Deer Valley Unified School District's Inspiration Mountain School

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting several students from the University of Arizona School of Architecture to share the history, relationships, and important qualities of being an architect for the Native American sector. One of our Partners, Richard, and Project Manager Aaron had a wonderful discussion with the group -- we love what we do and are so happy to share!

It's Women in Construction week! We are delighted to have two very special female Construction Administrators working at SPS+, and many more in architectural roles that do incredible work!

Did you know that the percentage of women in construction is the highest it's ever been at 14% nationwide, with Arizona having the second-highest percentage of women in construction at 15.6%!

Our team visited a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week for what resulted in an incredible project that will be a huge asset to the community! Trellis at Mission is a new affordable housing project composed of 43 town-home style units within nine buildings, including a mix of two, three, and four-bedroom units. Located in the Sunnyslope neighborhood, this development helps address the severe shortage of affordable housing and provides a unique opportunity for tenants to transition to homeownership after 15 years of residency.

Thank you to Mayor Kate Gallego, H&B Builders, and all Trellis supporters for helping this project come to life.

For the past couple of weeks, our Scottsdale office has been in Valentine's Day spirit - striking a pose in the name of love (as in, love-ing where you work!). 💝😍

Mountain View High School was nominated for a RED award! The MVHS campus is one of our biggest and best projects in recent years, and we are so honored to partner with Mesa Public Schools to complete this massive project for their students.

The SPS+ team has been working 'round the clock to deliver superior modernization designs for THREE projects on this campus:

Project #1: Student Services Building
Project #2: Performing Arts Center
Project #3: Fields and Administration

The overall project scope is expanding and modernizing the space for performing arts, renovating the administration areas to current safety and security standards, and completing additions to the athletic fields
and amenities.

The Real Estate and Development (RED) Awards honor the year’s top architects, contractors, developers and projects. We're so excited, and we just can't hide it! Congratulations to MVHS!

There is a bit of debate confirming who the first African American Black architect to be admitted into the American Institute of Architects (AIA) was. However, most credit Paul R. Willams as being the first. As an architect in Southern California, he designed over 2000 homes during his career, including many notable celebrity residences in the early and mid-20th century.

Today, it is estimated that only 2% of Architects in the United States are of African American descent.

This holiday season, our community outreach committee spearheaded an effort to support Soldier's Angels, a nonprofit organization with a mission to help active-duty military families throughout the year. SPS+ Architects sponsored two families for the holidays by sending over 50 gifts, $350+ in cash, and 11 gift cards.

The gift-wrapping party we had last week (with sweet treats and holiday music resonating throughout the office) was a great team builder, too!

Thank you to Hazel & Violet for hosting us this week for a couple Letterpress Workshops! Our team created some custom letterpress quotes that will be displayed in our new office in Phoenix.

As our Tuscon SPS+ Team continues to settle into their new office space, David and Cat went down to hang out with the team! David put on his chef's coat and busted out his knives to treat everyone to some lunch.

Brian had a great time at the AZALAS Annual Conference this week on behalf of SPS+ Architects!

Arizona Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (AZALAS) is committed to providing the community with pertinent professional development, quality communications, and unlimited opportunities for peer support and networking.

Currently, over 45 percent of public school students in Arizona are Hispanic and at the same time less than 17 percent of administrators are Hispanic. AZALAS works to create and provide professional development and support programs for professionals who serve Latino students.

Today we had the opportunity to celebrate a very special new school in the Deer Valley Unified School District, Inspiration Mountain, with a ribbon cutting.

SPS+ Architects focuses on schools and educational design, and this is one of the best we've designed in many years.

We are grateful to all who have helped us in this collaboration to build a beautiful school for the students of Deer Valley, AZ.

SPS+ Architects was a proud sponsor of this year's Kidstruction event, an Annual Student Design & Build Contest open to students in 6th through 8th grades under teacher supervision to design and build structures using only toothpicks, business cards, and glue.

This year's theme was "The Galactic Gallery," with competing teams creating structures within a few categories including Cosmic Living, Terrestrial Mining, and Celestial Tourism. Check out these photos from the event - The concepts and builds the kids came up with are seriously "out of this world!"

We had a ton of fun yesterday for Wold Architecture Day at our Scottsdale and Tucson offices! Teams came together to create fantastic architectural structures using pasta and marshmallows. Thank you to Richard for judging the event and participating in the fun. Congrats to the competition winners who built a replica of SPS+ Architects' legacy project, Manzanita Hall.
