Our Story
As one of Arizona’s most sought after designers, Susie Hersker’s firm, Design Directives, has been serving Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Paradise Valley since the 1980’s. Design Directives’ award-winning designs have delighted clients over the years, as Susie and her team have traveled around the country to design second, third, and even fourth homes for clients.
Susie works alongside her clients throughout the whole design process, which includes space planning, materials, specification, color palette selection, custom furniture design, furniture selection and placement, and art/accessory consultation. Her goal is to bring the client’s vision to life, to personalize the interior so it reflects the client’s life and preferences.
As a longstanding member of the American Society of Interior Design (ASID), Susie is well-known in the community and is regularly referred to clients through other professionals, including Scottsdale’s leading architects. The high-quality of materials, exclusive custom furniture, and immaculate attention to detail, color, and texture is what makes contractors and architects so confident in working with Susie and her team.
Design Directives goes above and beyond in their designs and in working with clients, builders, craftsmen and architects to fulfill the client’s vision. They work in every style from contemporary to traditional to Southwest, and always make sure the quality, functionality, and aesthetics are all top-notch. Some of Arizona’s most recognized homes have been designed by Susie, all of which are distinctive, unique, and luxurious, but still comfortable and practical and in line with her client’s goals.
