UNICO Scranton Chapter President’s Message:

I would like to take a minute to thank all those who contributed to another successful year at the Unico Porketta Stand at La Festa Italiana this year. From our National Officers, Scranton Chapter Board of Directors, our 2024 Porketta Committee to our loyal members, friends and volunteers who gave their tireless efforts to ensure another prosperous conclusion, You all exemplified the meaning of Service Above Self.

Finally I want to thank our loyal supporters of our porketta stand. Your annual support of our porketta stand allows Unico to continue to invest in all our worthwhile charities such as cancer research and prevention, veterans causes, scholarships, local charities and continue to preserve Italian culture and heritage. Together you all make the Unico Porketta Stand the “Best Darn Porketta Stand in the Land!” God bless you all.

One of our favorite times of the year is here!!

“UNICO has been serving the sandwiches since the first festival, in 1976. The first year they served 60 pounds of meat. This year it will be 4,500 pounds. The anticipated $50,000 profit will fund scholarships and other causes.

Six to seven ounces of porketta, permeated by roasting juices and sliced a little thicker than deli meat, is served on a National Bakery hard roll. “They’re the ones everybody loves,” said Jim Sagona, chairman of the UNICO board of directors and a member of the La Festa board of directors. The roll isn’t sliced completely through, which prevents the sandwich from falling apart.”

Corned beef reubens on grilled rye with Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and 1000 island dressing. Served with Bistro chips and bottled water. $8.45

Texas cheeseburger on a grilled semi hard roll with Texas beef sauce, brown mustard and raw onion. Served with FF and bottled water. $8.45

Thursday, August 29th, 2024
Grilled chicken cheddar wrap with bacon, BBQ sauce and grilled onions. Served with sweet potato ff and bottled water. $8.45

Friday, August 30th, 2024
Italian melt on grilled multigrain with ham, salami, pepperoni, provolone cheese. Served pasta salad with bottled water. $8.45
