How often do you need bitewing X-rays?

As a rule of thumb, you should get a set of bitewings taken once a year, and a full mouth series (FMX) once every 3 years.
If you are experiencing pain (other problems/concerns) in between x rays, additional ones may need to be taken to diagnose what is going on.
Bitewings show teeth above the gum line and the height of the bone between teeth.
Bitewing X-rays also help diagnose gum disease and cavities between teeth.

What is Nitrous Oxide & why do we use it?



Patients with dental anxiety love using nitrous oxide for a few reasons.

1. The depth of sedation can be easily increased & decreased.
2. It also works very rapidly (in about 2 or 3 minutes) and is very safe for the brain, heart, liver, lungs, and kidneys.
3. Nitrous oxide is great for young patients, patients with disabilities, and patients with dental anxiety—the calming and numbing effects work quickly and there are NO needles required!

This weekend, Dr. Vu will be competing in the first annual PNW Tour Championship against Premier Oral Surgery and others.

Team sports and outdoor activities are good for the body, and for the soul. We love encouraging our patients to be active and have fun! While playing, take steps to protect your teeth. Mouth related injuries are one of the most common injuries reported, and they can be expensive and painful. Mouthguards and sportsguards can protect your teeth, and even reduce the severity of a concussion. Having your mouthguard custom fitted means it will be more comfortable and increase the likelihood of being worn.

Brushing your teeth should take about two minutes, twice a day. To achieve this, consider your mouth divided into four quadrants, each quadrant should be brushed for about thirty seconds. This includes the face of your teeth, the back, along the gumline and between.
