Tell me you keep big fish with out SAYING you keep big fish ππ
Big things have been happening at the rescue!
Massive sumps, new ponds and tanks - biggest being a massive 550 gallon tank! π€©
While some may be concerned with the stock of some of our previous posts - rest assured there is ample filtration and premium food while we work on expanding further! The size and health of our fish friends speaks for itself! π
We appreciate all the support and help weβve received and look forward to sharing more of this journey with you all! Stay tuned!!
I am in the process of setting up 2 more 250 gallon tanks to unpack the 230 gallon but as always the water is still clean I just want to give the fish a bit more space while they are growing out for the big ponds. Stay tuned for in a few days when we get these new tanks setup and posted here!!!
Just a little walk around of a normal day and how the fish act before a feeding.
This was when I first rescued Pancake one of the 5 turtles at the rescue from a 75 gallon tank he lived in for 18 years and he's almost 15 inches wide!
Some good footage of one of the original tanks a few months back before most of those fish in the video were put into the new bigger tank or moved to the big pond.
Some of the newest oscars at the rescue before we brought them home a couple weeks ago!
This is what the same filter from the earlier post looks like now a totally massive stack of tomatoe plants growing up the ceiling to control nitrates in the big filtration system!
Here's a video from a couple months back before the bigger fish were upgraded but even with all the other fish in the tank the silver dollars were still trying to spawn!
This was the pond a couple months before the plants started taking over. The plants are valuable habitat and filtration but they make it easy for the fish to hide even the monster fish.
These are some of the fish that are now in the pond when they were small. Its a lot harder to take good picture of the fish once they are free to hide in the plants. ππΏπΏπ΄π΄
This was when I first started the filter and the plants were just getting established now the tomatoes are almost 8 feet tall touching the ceiling! Check out the next post to see how big the plants in the filter are now!!!
This is the first of 2 large ponds we have at the rescue currently holding pacu over 27 inches and catfish over 3 feet long.
