Binomial Cube 🟥🟦⬛️

This is an incredible material created by Dr. Montessori where various shaped cubes are used to create a physical representation of the algebraic formula (a+b)^3.

It can be introduced to children ages 3 to 4 years old, and at this age it is a SENSORIAL work (not a Math work). The children will explore how the cubes fit together in order to create a perfect binomial cube. Here we want them to the recognize height, width, and depth of each cube. We do not want to introduce any other descriptors like color or numbers. If the child notices that one is blue or the other is red, you can simply say "Yes! You're right. That cube is_____." Then keep it moving.

***Pro Tip - Each cube matches perfectly to its corresponding color. However, that is just for us to know. The children might pick up on it too and that is cool. However too much information is a distraction from the primary lesson.

Sand Dye This is one of my favorite table works to have out in the Montessori classroom. Having something available and on a table is nice for children who might have a hard time choosing a work they are interested in. You take your sand (salt), and swirl around the desired chalk color in to reveal a beautiful, bright color. Then just layer the colors on top of one another and VOILA! ✨ #montessori #montessoriwork #montessoripreschool #practicallife #colormixing #preschoolactivities #preschool

Trash Sorting! This is a great practical life activity for the children in a Montessori Classroom. It is also a great practical life activity for adults! Often people think you can just recycle anything that is plastic, it is a common misconception, and important to do some research regarding your city's recycling guidelines. #practicallife #practicallifeskills #montessori #trashsorting #recycle #recycling #greenliving #recycled #ridwell

Fresh flower Chamomile Tea from the garden. It's so easy and it tastes incredible. Almost like honeydew or honeysuckle. All you need is flowers and water. 🫖 #chamomile #chamomiletea #chamomileflowers #montessorigarden

Montessori Art Shelf: Spirograph- I love this particular Spirograph because it has a lid and everything is contained. It leaves one less thing for the children to hold onto with their non dominant hand. This is a great work for any child that may feel intimidated with writing. #motessori Color Mixing- Quartered cardstock pieces of paper with outlined circles representing the primary color needed for mixing. The last circle is outlined half and half with each color need to create a new color. Rainbow Mini Beading- ROYGBV pony beads. Beading is a fantastic way exercise fine motor skills. With this work the added left to right rainbow order matching subliminally reinforces sequencing for future language reading work. The small scale also helps with any child who might feel intimidated with an entire bracelet. Oil and Water painting- Spring is popping over here and the dandelions are everywhere. We used this dandelion outline printed on a half sheet of cardstock. The tray is set up separately with oil pastels and watercolor. This is a great experiment that often feels like a magic trick when the children paint over their oil pastels. Sewing- Burlap squares inside embroidery circles set up with blunt tip embroidery needles and thread. Having multiple embroidery hoops set up with a pattern, enough thread, and a needle is key. When introducing a new concept, you want to make sure that the work is prepared in advance so that the lesson can be as seamless as possible. #montessoriart #montessoriartshelf #montessoriartideas #colormixing #preschoolsewing #montessorisewing #preschoolactivities #preschoolart

MONTESSORI CLAY CLOCK 🕰️ This is a perfect addition to the Math shelves. Children of all ages can use this whether they are just exploring it sensorially, or if they are starting to understand how to tell time. #montessori #seattlemontessori #inhomemontessori #earlyeducationmontessori #halfdaymontessori #montessoriideas #montessoridesign #montessorimama #montissorimom #macte #montessorimath #preschoolmath #mathgames #montessoriwork #montessoriideas #montessoriworks #preschoolactivities #montessoriclock

This is Rose. 🌹 She loves her time with the children and her sister, Emma. We have designated space in the classroom where they get to spend time socializing with their humans ( and it is pretty adorable.) The children have daily tasks where they take turns feeding them and filling their water. It is a beautiful relationship that fosters empathy and trust between our students and the animals who share our space.

Magna Tile Matching! This could go in either Sensorial or Language. It is a fantastic matching work with various degrees of difficulty within the work itself.

How to play Sound Bingo! Missy Montessori

It's always good to have a space for the children to be introspective. This record player is one of my favorite works to have in the classroom. The Crosley suitcase record players are perfect to help children learn how to be gentle and explore all kinds of music. We have students as young as 2.5 years old working with these vintage 45s. 💜 🎧<<<#montessori #seattlemontessori #inhomemontessori #earlyeducationmontessori #halfdaymontessori #montessoriideas #montessoridesign #montessorimama #montissorimom #macte #montessorimusic
