No, Richard Sherman isn't nearly the athlete that Tariq Woolen is coming out of college. Not only that, their play styles are vastly different. However, that doesn't mean they don't have any parallels that connect them to each other! For instance, Woolen is also a WR-converted CB who came into the NFL raw & with limited experience at the position. Sound familiar? What about the fact that the two were LITERALLY picked 1 spot apart from each other in the same round? With that in mind, it begs the question. If you’re like me & miss Richard Sherman in Seattle, then you’re probably hoping ‘Sauce’ Gardner falls to the Seahawks at 9th overall in the NFL Draft. The Seahawks might be in need of a starting QB (or at least some competition for Drew Lock) & despite the availability & potential appeal of Baker Mayfield, the Seahawks would be wise to stay away from the former Heisman trophy winner because for 1) It would limit Seattle’s flexibility (would take up all of our remaining cap space not to mention the need to have enough money to sign draft class). 2) Investing equity & a new contract for a soon-to-be 27-year old would put pressure on the team to win now. 3) The roster in Seattle isn’t as good as the one Cleveland currently features. The numbers don’t lie. Dj Reed, the only corner on the Seahawks to record an INT this past season, was easily a top 10 CB in the NFL last season. He gave up less TD’s in coverage than Trevon Diggs. He allowed a lower percentage of passes to be completed in his direction than Jalen Ramsey. He has the same number of INT’s as All-Pro corner Aj Terrell in the last two seasons. Need I say more?
