I thought I'd take a minute to share one of my favourite botanical pieces I've done!

I find botanical pieces a bit creatively challenging - a plant is already beautiful, already complex, already interesting to look at, so it feels difficult to do something new or something artistically satisfying with them.

This is where I enjoy bringing narrative into the mix! This piece incorporated two critters who are able to see each other across a meadow - so I included silhouettes of each in the other's background 😀 can you spot them?

I'm really interested in doing more botanical pieces wirh narrative attached to them! Whether that be a ladyhead, or animals included :)

Fun fact: I LOVE tattooing characters and ladyheads!

I don't get requests for these very often, so I thought I'd compile my favourites that I've gotten to do over the last year or so!

In order:
1. Jane Eyre - I admittedly have never read the book or seen any of the movies, but my client wanted to capture the undercurrent feminine rage of the character.

2. Wednesday Addams - a design from my predrawns, with a custom edit of the addition of thr classic poison bottle - I was a huge fan of Ortega's depiction of Wednesday as well as Ricci's original flawless performance, so I mixed the styles of the two!

3. Princess Ofelia - from Pan's Labyrinth, another one of my predrawn designs that I was over the moon to get to do! It also healed beautifully, and I would love to do more characters from horror stories!

4. The Girl with the Green Ribbon - the first ladyhead I did about a year back - a custom piece for a good friend who gave me creative freedom to bring the character to life.

5. Ariadne (in progress) - I can't tell you how excited I am to continue to bring this piece to life! Ariadne is a woman from Greek mythology, which has a special place in my heart, always - this client is trusting me to bring her to life as a symbol of hope.

I absolutely love getting the opportunity to bring my twist to characters from books, movies, or even a character from my own imagination to life for my clients.

I normally don't share a lot of in-progress stuff, but I am over the moon with the start on this Ariadne-inspired piece for my client, Josh!

I absolutely love being challenged artistically - creativity is a muscle that has to be exercised regularly to stay strong and to grow, and I absolutely love it when clients bring me a challenging ask - like Josh, who wanted this piece to symbolize hope amidst grief, and to fit a specific way down his whole arm.

I'm endlessly grateful to get to call tattooing my career, but what makes it all worth it is the connection I have with my clients, and with you all on here 🖤

Lil coverup action for Julia 🌼 they sat like such a champ for the elbow ditch!

I love doing coverups, big or small - they are super challenging, but soooo satisfying to both tattoo and watch the client's transformation when they see the old piece is no longer visible 😁

This client had a few laser sessions on the text piece we ended up covering, which is why this style worked for them - generally soft black and gray is not suitable for coverups, since it relies so much on the open skin to build contrast!

Have you ever had laser treatments done? I'm hoping to get some layered soon myself 😁 tell me in the comments what your experience was!

I don't have any completed tattoos to share at the moment, but I wanted to share this photo of my mug and tell you all how much I appreciate every single one of you.

I appreciate so much that I've been able to build this small business of mine, in an industry I wasn't sure I'd return to -- a few years ago, I was working a 9-5 call center job, and spending every second I could drawing. I would draw during calls (one screen literally had my references on it while the other was actually work 😂) , I would listen to tattooing videos and seminars on my lunches and breaks.

Before that job, I would keep one headphone I while working as a barista and helping clients - I remember listening to a live interview with Nikko Hurtado during a rush with my manager nagging me to take the headphones out (I didn't, still crushed that line). I even convinced my manager to pay me to draw on the chalkboard after hours😂

When I got back into tattooing in 2019, I worked 8 hours at that call center, then tattooed for 4-6 more hours after that. I would spend countless hours drawing flash and practicing on myself and fruit and friends, then clients who trusted me and my art. I worked in a dark ass back room in a shop in West Seattle, and after quarantine lifted in 2020, I pulled the trigger on my first studio (with all the support and love from ) and haven't looked back.

This year marked 4 years of working for myself (as of Feb 9th) , and it'll be 6 years of tattooing in June. and I have so many exciting plans for the future, and I can't wait to share.

Without your support, your trust and your appreciation of my work, this dream never could work. Thanks for showing up for me, in an uncertain as f**k world.

Nothing I Could Do

I do something that I haven't seen a ton of other tattooers do, and that's giving my flash pieces a title. This might seem a little pointless, or even extra, but I like giving whoever books the piece a glimpse into why I drew what I did.

A lot of times on social, I feel like it seems as if artists just come up with the imagery we draw out of thin air. Like sometimes I'll be looking at someone's work and wonder how in the hell they came up with that....completely forgetting that most of my really creative or weird ideas come from sparks of inspiration filtered through my lens of experience and my mental health at the time.

I drew these crying flowers because they represent so much...from it being natural to be sad or that both beauty & pain can exist at the same time.

"Nothing I Could Do" symbolizes to be the fact that sometimes we are sad, and the pain we feel is insurmountable- there's nothing you could do to be happier in that moment. Moments like these allow us to feel the exact opposite in their full expression. Depression allows us to feel joy, there is no light without dark, there is balance to everything.

I loved tattooing this, and I want to give a big thank you to my client for snagging this for a last minute opening 🖤 thanks for sitting so incredibly well for this!

This piece gives me Secret of Nimh vibes, and I'm so so here for it - they wanted a piece that evoked protection, a feeling of the strong protecting the weak.

This piece challenged me in so many ways, and I'm absolutely honored that this client trusted me with the vision I had for their idea.

I think this might be the largest piece I've ever done in black and gray - which is my absolute happy place! I love doing pieces in color, but this piece made my week🖤

January brought some incredibly fun projects, but finishing this piece was the highlight for sure - I love that it ended up above the clients existing "FIERCE" tattoo 😁

Truth be told, not having the pressure for most of this month to post any tattoos was really nice...sometimes I take the longest to share the tattoos I'm most proud of, since I like just having it for me and the client for awhile 😅

I loved making this piece - drawing it felt so satisfying, tattooing it even better! Lines here are healed, white and black and gray shading fresh.

🖤I'm back 🖤

Been a couple weeks since I posted last - I really needed some time to reflect on what was important for me, as an artist, as a tattooer and as an entity on this platform.

I'm not going to say I had any sort of epiphany or magical thing that came to mind...but I have been more focused on manifesting the future I want for my career and personal life - I'm dreaming bigger than I ever have before and I'm excited to start taking the steps I need to, to align myself with this future.

Tomorrow's my 31st birthday - as somebody who never really imagined life after 30, I feel like I'm slowly entering no-man's land....but I'm feeling optimistic, and I'm happy to be here.
