Another awesome human has joined our provider team. Welcome Dr. Lea McKinstry! Dr. McKinstry is a primary care provider, offering medical management of eating disorders who additionally specializes in hormone health, digestive health and thyroid disorders. She is joining us after several years at other local practices and a residency in Montana. Dr. Mckinstry brings a bright presence into the space and we couldn't be more excited to have her supporting folks at OCH.

We are excited to have Dr. Sarah Bedford join our team! Dr. Sarah specializes in chronic infections, POTS, MCAS, lyme, mold and more. She partners with Drs. Rak, Curtis, Hearst and Mattax in treating these complex conditions at OCH and is in her fourth year of practice and works with both adult and pediatric patients. She's been with us for a week and already we can feel her fitting right into our awesome team. It’s moving week! As of November 8th all appointments will be at our new address 5470 Shilshole Ave NW, Suite 500. Business as usual in our old office this week. Monday November 6&7 will be telehealth only to give our staff time to unpack and settle into the new space with our soft opening on Nov 8th. We are so excited for this next step as a team!

One Connection Healthcare is excited to announce that we are expanding our services into counseling and therapy! Kristy Ruesch-Fassio, LMHC will be joining our team starting July 24th. We have known Kristy for many years and have witnessed the incredible support of the clients and patients we have shared with her already so it just makes sense to have her be a shining part of our team and to kick off a new service that we can offer our community! There's a primary thread we've heard our patients express over the last 2-3 years amidst the pandemic and aftermath and that's that people want more community. In response to this we are now offering group work with our newest provider addition, Misty Saracino, eating disorder recovery coach! The first group topic is on food and body liberation for an 8 class series oriented to include time for personal connection and experience. The group starts March 8th and spots are limited. Not one, but two of our docs are speaking at the Washington Association of Naturopathic Physicians annual conference this year! Dr. Alison Hearst will be presenting on POTS and Dr. Lily Stokely will be presenting on trauma informed care for the fat body. Clinical work is what brought us all to this practice, but teaching and sharing knowledge is what can help more people needing this important care. One Connection Healthcare is a busy naturopathic medical practice with seven current doctors, an acupuncturist and dietitian. The practice offers naturopathic primary care, eating disorder treatment, and chronic disease treatment from a weight neutral perspective. The medical assistant/front desk team provides support with the following:

Scheduling
Checking patients out
Collecting payment and insurance information
Assisting patients with intake paperwork
Answering phones
Managing prescription supplement sales
Office organization (stocking shelves, unpacking supply shipments etc)
Qualified medical assistant preferred
Our ideal candidate for this position would include someone with past medical assistant and front desk experience with some baseline knowledge of health insurance. We prioritize a team oriented, friendly, people person for this position as the front desk team is a part of the face of our clinic. Someone who is a problem solver and has baseline technology experience (electronic health records, Microsoft excel, Microsoft word experience a plus, but not mandatory).

We offer flexible hours and ideally are looking for someone who can work 35-40 hours/week. We offer full benefits with 20 days of PTO/year and fully paid health insurance. Our office hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am-6:00pm. Ideal start time would be as soon as possible.

Dr. Lily here….today marks One Connection Healthcare’s three year anniversary and I am oozing in pride at the team and patients that I get to work with every day. I started on this day three years ago as a one woman show. I was seeing patients, answering my own phones, collecting payments and doing my own books….now three years later my amazing husband and co-owner Dr. Michael Rak work together and employ 10 incredible humans who we couldn’t be prouder to work with . It’s an incredible thing to look around an office and see every little piece of furniture, wall hanging, medical equipment that we have built and created. I have a new appreciation for all the small business owners out there. Next time you walk into a business just think about even down to the TP in the bathroom the owner had to buy or create a system so that it could be there. The last three years have been FULL and the dream I had to create an integrated team of providers offering inclusive and compassionate care has been fulfilled beyond what I could have ever imagined. We are (re)creating a healthcare space that doesn’t need to be traumatizing, where you can feel heard, and where people can heal. Not just physically, but also emotionally, unwinding the harm that has been done in other healthcare systems. This team not only works hard to communicate well with patients, but we also work with each other to uphold a team environment that feels safe for each other. Dr. Claire Hannes is mid way through her first year of residency with primary mentorship under Dr. Lily Stokely learning weight neutral primary care and medical management of eating disorders. Dr. Hannes is a go-getter and efficient in the care she provides. She also excels at diving in fully to complex eating disorder cases and coordinating care when there may be multiple providers as part of a medical team. Dr. Hannes additionally excels at her physical medicine techniques including myofascial release and her patients rave about her technique in pain management.
