Aloha Fam! Next Sunday we will be having a fundraiser from 10am-2pm or until we sell out! Please come down to help our fellow kama'aina who have been affected by the fires on Maui. Besides the proceeds we will be generating from our brunch, we are asking for donations as in prepaid gift cards, store cards~Walmart, Target , Safeway. Also women's and men's hygiene products, toothpaste, etc. baby wipes, diapers, formula. If you would like to donate directly, go to and there you will find information on how you can donate. With all of the craziness happening with the Covid pandemic, we are still very fortunate to be operating and able to hopefully make it through this. We know that many businesses are suffering and might not come back after all is said and done, but we pray that everyone will rise up in full force and we can go back to what Seattle has really become, an Ohana of small businesses.

Meet Peter Buza, owner of The Kauai Family Restaurant in Seattle's Georgetown neighborhood.

Kauai Family Restaurant embodies all that is wonderful about Hawaiian fare – flavor, family, fun, and of course Aloha. Peter and his daughter Randi have been serving up traditional Hawaiian fare since 1993, including lau lau, Kalua pork, lomi salmon & more!

Stop by for takeout Tuesday-Saturday 10 AM-3 PM.

Fun fact: In conversation with Peter, we were excited to learn that he knows several members of our CEO's family back on Kauai (Laura's mom is grew up In Waimea on the west side of the island).

It is with deep sadness and a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of our beloved Elizabeth Mar. After battling the virus for nearly two weeks, Liz succumbed to the serious illness in the early morning hours of March 25, 2020.

For those of you who knew her, Liz was always a great source of Aloha. She shall be fondly remembered as the best grandma, fun-loving friend, devoted spouse, generous benefactor, first-rate source of amusing gossip and mother extraordinaire. We shall forever miss her cheerfulness, wonderful sense of humor and kind heart.

Due to the current situation caused by the pandemic, memorial services are uncertain. However, we will keep you posted as the situation improves.

Angie and I will try our best to honor the legacy of Liz at Kona Kitchen. Mahalo for all of the kind thoughts, prayers and support during these difficult times.
