Canine Mobility
Keep your dog mobile with the original Anti-Knuckling Device used by customers around the world.
Dear readers and followers, although I closed Canine Mobility's website down at the end of 2023, I left my Amazon page up and have continued to sell Anti-Knuckling Devices through that sales channel. I am not selling Help 'Em Up Harnesses or leashes on the Amazon page but I do still have inventory if you need something. I would be happy to liquidate my inventory of HEU products at a 20% discount. I presently have all sizes of harnesses plus the Walking Handles and Walking Leash/Shoulder straps. -Jeff

Dear Customers/ and Partners,
It is with mixed emotions that I announce the closure of Canine Mobility LLC, effective December 31, 2023. This decision was not made lightly, and it comes after a thorough evaluation of the business and its future prospects.
I want to express my sincere gratitude to our loyal customers who have supported me throughout the years. Your trust and partnership have been invaluable, and I appreciate the relationships we have built.
Over the coming weeks, I will be working to ensure a smooth transition for our customers and partners. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me at (206) 361-4100 or on my cell at (206) 853-5307.

Anti-Knuckling Device versus No Knuckling Training Sock: Which is better for addressing your dog’s hind leg weakness/knuckling issues?
Dear Readers, I recently received this interesting question online and want to share it with you.
What is the difference between Canine Mobility’s Anti-Knuckling Device and the No Knuckling Training Sock from Handicapped Pets?
Here is a simple summary of the differences between the two products:
The Anti-Knuckling Device from Canine Mobility encourages mobility by gently pulling the leg forward.
The No Knuckling Training Sock from Handicapped Pets utilizes a soft enclosure with Velcro straps for the leg and an adjustable elastic cord that loops around and elevates the toes.
More specifically:
The Anti-Knuckling Device has two unique components:
1. A figure-8 shaped paw strap. This paw strap loops around the middle toes, then crisscrosses over the top of the paw and buckles behind the lower leg at the other end. The paw strap is made of soft material that retains its shape, even when wet.
2. A weather resistant elastic cord that attaches to the paw strap, and gently pulls the hind leg forward and provides strengthening of the hind leg muscles as a result of gentle tension being placed on the leg as it extends backwards.
The Anti-Knuckling Device helps to strengthen and rehabilitate hind leg muscles of dogs recovering from surgery or injuries. It has been successfully used helping dogs stay mobile, including those suffering from neurological conditions such as Degenerative Myelopathy. Canine Mobility recommends starting out with 10-15-minute walks graduating in 5-minute increments as the dog’s paw/paws become used to walking with the device. For best results and more information, see our Best Practice Guidelines at https://www.canine-mobility.com/2013/12/07/canine-mobility-akd-best-practice-guidelines/.
The No Knuckling Training Sock is a stationary enclosure for the front or back leg. While it lifts the toes, it doesn’t propel the leg forward. Also, there is constant pressure from the elastic cord on the toes, which can cause chafing or sores. Because of this, Handicapped Pets' recommended use is for 2–5-minute walks.

Hi all and Happy Friday!
I just moved our website (https://www.canine-mobility.com) to a different server this afternoon and the site still up (sort of) but not completely. As of this moment all pages except for the Shop page (arguably the most important page) and the last two tabs (Canine Mobility Team and Canine Rehabilitation) are kind of wonky. By this I mean that they have lost all the background and all of the formatting. It will take 24-48 hours for the site to fully propagate. I did a test transaction this afternoon and all the links on the Shop page still work but it looks kind of weird. Clicking on any of the links will open the page as normal and as it should look. Apologies for any headaches or confusion. Thank you.

This is Leda from Whidbey Island, WA. She is a 9-year-old 83-lb Bouvier des Flandres who suffered an FCE in early November, 2020, and a second spinal cord stroke 3 weeks later. She has bilateral knuckling on her hind paws and severe DJD of both hocks. She is using an Anti-Knuckling Device on her right hind leg and a stiff boot from TheraPaw with a tension cord on the left. She had been using the TheraPaw boot for several months. This is the first time she tried walking with the Anti-Knuckling Device.

Today, June 1, 2019 marks the 5-year anniversary of the day we had to say goodbye to our beloved Reilly. As you may or may not know, Reilly was the inspiration for the Anti-Knuckling Device and the chief product tester through each of its iterations. He was also the first long-term beneficiary of the benefits of the AKD and as a result was able to spend his last 3 years walking on all 4s and doing what he loved. To commemorate this milestone I spent some time going through a fraction of the 14 years' worth of pictures of him and selected a "few" to share. They are not in any particular order or consistent file size. It's late. I'll close by saying we still miss our boy. We take comfort though in the knowledge that he is well where he is.
Love your dog today and every day! Thanks to Alan Springett for his post on G+
Hi Jeff,
In case you don't remember me, you sold me AKD's for my dog, Buddy, an FCE stroke survivor. I last spoke to you in July 2017 to tell you that Buddy my "Labradane" wasn't expected to live but another couple of weeks. A couple of months later, I realized that he wasn't going to die any time soon, and as usual Buddy surpassed all expectations and lived until June of this year. He would have been 12 in July.
One of the reasons he lived almost another year was because of the AKD's. Even though it's not how you designed them to be worn, Buddy wore his during his waking hours for several months before he passed. At that stage in his disease process for IVDD he was unable to walk unassisted and most of the time couldn't get up on his own. Because of his extra large size, I needed assistance getting him up and walking him. He wore his harness and the AKD's all of the time so that I could move him from place to place in the house and help him go outside to go to the bathroom. I tried leaving them off and putting them on when needed, but I found leaving them on meant I could move him more often.....this greatly increased his quality of life. I was careful to watch for any sores or pain from wearing them all the time, but this did not become a problem. Near the end, I was literally using the AKD's to put one of his feet in front of the other. It was quite a dance we did together to enable him to walk, but walk we did thanks to your AKD's.
I've been putting off telling about Buddy's passing to some of the people who had an interest in him and decided I'd tell them in my annual Christmas Card. Truthfully, I've been putting it off because it still hurts so much. However, Christmas time is a good time to tell people how much you appreciate them, and I wanted you to know that your device added months to Buddy's life. And when you consider all of the medical challenges he faced for almost half of his life, it is amazing that his quality of life during those last months was still good.
Buddy was a once in a lifetime dog for me. I am grateful for the deep connection we had even though his passing has left a huge hole in my heart. And I am especially grateful that we had another year together.

Rachel and Rajah, July 15, 2018. Looking good!
I got to spend time with my friends Rachel and Rajah last weekend. Rajah is a 7-year-old Harlequin Great Dane diagnosed with Degenerative Polyneuropathy a year ago. He was given 3 months to live at the time. Extensive rehab using the Anti-Knuckling Devices, underwater treadmill and traditional rehab therapy restored his strength and ability to walk without knuckling but he still had an uphill battle. A year later, he's walking, exercising and giving and receiving love from everyone he meets. Check him out doing his cavaletti pole routine. Such a rock star!

The Canine Mobility Anti-Knuckling Devise is wonderful. This device works exactly as described and our dog who, due to a herniated disc was having difficulty walking and was knuckling so bad that both back paws were scraped and swollen, now walks with comfort and confidence. The customer service at Canine Mobility is excellent and they provide one-on one service. They treat our situation as if they are working with one of their own pets. If possible, I would give this company 10 stars. Thank you so much for helping our dog.
