Claim your free tickets to see “Hokusai: Inspiration and Influence from the Collection of the Fine Arts, Boston ” and “Renegade Edo and Paris: Japanese Prints and Toulouse-Lautrec” by emailing [email protected] with your preferred date, time, and location at least two weeks before your desired visit. Starting today, October 5, school tours at the Seattle Asian Art Museum will be available on both Thursdays AND Fridays! Not yet convinced on why you should bring your students to the museum? Here’s just a few reasons to book your tour now:

1. Exciting ongoing and upcoming exhibitions, including “Renegade Edo & Paris: Japanese Prints and Toulouse-Lautrec” and “Anida Yoeu Ali: Hybrid Skin, Mythical Presence.”

2. A ton of in-depth videos created by SAM educators that can inspire learning about Asian art long after your visit.

3. The beautiful setting of Volunteer Park provides a fantastic outdoor space for lunch or further artistic exploration.

Art has the incredible power to elicit empathy! During an Art of Empathy tour, students grades 2–12 develop close-looking skills that encourage recognizing, labeling, and describing emotions. The tour includes an artistic workshop led by SAM teaching artists and supported by SAM volunteers. Self-led visits are also available—check out our Linktree for more information about this tour!

The Eyes on Asia tour at the Seattle Asian Art Museum engages students with sculptures, garments, and a variety of other mediums while connecting them to the stories, traditions, and people of Asia. Explore the basic elements of art—including line, shape, color, and texture—while looking at global art from SAM’s collection! During an Artistic Elements tour, students K–2 will learn how artists use these elements to communicate narratives, opinions, and lessons with viewers. Join us for a free artist talk with Tlingit and Unangax artist Nicholas Galanin this Sunday, August 27! Galanin's new work, "Neon American Anthem", was recently installed as part of American Art: Stories We Carry. The work creates an intersectional space for catharsis; to mourn the loss of lives, freedoms, and safety for people and lands subject to American violence, and to protest continuing oppression. Galanin will speak about the work and his perspective on participatory art as part of his practice.
