The Eyesite
A family-owned, family-friendly optometry clinic, offering Seattle comprehensive eye care and eye wear
Some eye-related whimsy, spotted on holiday.
We had a great visit to the lab today! So fascinating to see the process of your glasses being made, after your frame leaves our clinic. Thank you to our friends at Walman!
Just a reminder that we are closed today in honor of Juneteenth--wishing you all a happy one! See you back for your appointments on Thursday!
Looking for stylish, high-quality glasses on a budget? You're in luck--our value package options just got an exponential refresh! Frame + single vision digital lens + antireflective coating + blue light filtering + Trivex lens material, all for just $224! π±π₯³
Middle-age relatable, amirite? I NEED THEM ALL, THEY ALL DO DIFFERENT THINGS.
Are you of a certain decade and not seeing as well as you used to? Make an appointment with Dr. Kaur to get your vision checked, we can fix you up with your very own set(s) of glasses!
Our single-doctor, private practice optometry clinic in Lake City is hiring! Weβre a small, close-knit, hard-working team (most but not all pictured here) looking for a personable optometric tech to do pre-testing, scheduling, insurance benefit checking, and more. Weβre eager to add another person to our team and happy to train the right person! If this sounds like you, or someone you know, DM me or go to eyesiteseattle.com for more information. Feel free to share. Thanks for your help!

We'll accept one of four answers!
Yesterday's answers: 33% with one parent, 67% with two.
Bonus question: What is the percentage of increased risk if they have TWO myopic bio parents?
Yesterday's answer: 50%!
Any guesses?
BTW yesterday's answer: 24.5mm
It's Myopia Awareness Week! To boost awareness of this eye disease, we're running a trivia question of the day. Do you know the answer?

Next week is Myopia Awareness Week! Myopia--also called "near-sightedness" is the condition of being unable to see far distances. Its incidence is on the rise due in large part to our modern lifestyles, which are heavy on near work (ahem screens ahem). Regular eye exams, talking screen breaks, and spending time outdoors are ways to help keep myopia from getting worse. Let this post serve as a reminder to you to do all those things ASAP!
As both an optician and a spatial organizer, this is basically the best day of my life BECAUSE ALL THE CASES FIT *PERFECTLY*. So satisfying.
No for real tho, you should be throwing out old eye makeup as well as any eye makeup you've used right before acquiring an eye infection. And for the love of Pete, never share eye makeup with anyone!
Let's talk about: 1) Oversized frames--a popular choice these days; 2) Why they are optically suboptimal---they make for an overall bad experience for the wearer because a) you're likely to experience distortion in your peripheral vision, and b) the lenses are going to be much thicker and heavier, often resulting in your glasses constantly slipping down and/or the dreaded "coke bottle effect;" and 3) What to choose instead--a bolder frame that is IN PROPORTION to the sides of your head (for aesthetics and comfort fit), and where your eyes are roughly centered in the frame (which minimizes lens weight and thickness, as well as distortion). In short, if you try on a frame and it looks like you're wearing your grandad's glasses, WALK AWAY, WE CAN DO OPTICALLY BETTER.
Always a delight to see our rep Kelsey and to try on the fun, hip, colorful frames on offer this season! You'll want to try em on too, trust us--make your appointment with us today!
Raise your paw if spring allergies have got your eyes a'weepin'! π€§π·ππΏA first line of defense for red, itchy eyes this time of year when the pollen is flying can be antihistimine eye drops, which can help you feel relief right away. But should those not fully alleviate your symptoms and/or if your symptoms last more than a few weeks, make an appointment to have Dr. Kaur check 'em out--there might be something else going on and/or she can help you access longer-term eye allergy relief.

At what age should you take your child in for an eye exam? The general guideline is at least by age 3, then again before starting kindergarten--unless! 1) there is a family history of nearsightedness, lazy eye, or cross-eyes, and/or 2) anything seems odd or off about your child's eyes or vision. Dr. Kaur sees babies as young as 6 months. You might think, "How can my preverbal child possibly get examined effectively?" Well, there's plenty that can be ascertained! Dr. Kaur will check their pupils, assess their visual tracking, observe how they seem, and do a brief health assessment. If anything is concerning to her, she might even recommend dilation. Have a baby whose vision you're concerned about? Make an appointment!

Progressives-wearing friends--are you wishing that your glasses worked better on the computer and also gave you more of a reading boost? Did you know there is another kind of progressive-style lens that is literally made to give you more middle- and reading distance range--plus the room around you? With a top "distance" of 5 or 10 feet these lenses are great for indoor use. Stare at the wall, your computer, or a book with ease! Ask Dr. Kaur if a computer or workspace lens will work for you at your next eye exam appointment.
