“My sister” is a short social impact film created by our friends Mimi Munoz and Titania Tran.

A note from the makers:
““my sister” amplifies how communities have mobilized, and recognizes those efforts not as isolated protests, but as a single, global revolution. this film is an effort to unify, and offer solidarity to those progressing this movement, by identifying them as we do in asian cultures:

not as strangers, but as sisters.”

LGBTQ+ History Month is a month-long observance of the history of the diverse and resilient le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, and q***r community and the importance of civil rights movements in progressing gay rights.

Rodney Wilson, a history teacher at Missouri High School in 1994 coined this month and by 1995, LGBTQ+ History Month was added to the list of commemorative months in a resolution forwarded by the General Assembly of the National Education Association.

We celebrate the achievements and progress the LGBTQ+ community has made, and recognize the social movements, resilience, and allyship that it takes to make this kind of progress possible.

We are now “adults” in the agency life..
Grown up and ready to explore the world.

Though we are now entering into another stage of our agency’s life
What will always remain is..

Our heart for community
Our desire for making a positive impact through our work
And our hustle to make it happen.

Thank you to all of our partners
That have joined us along the way.

And we celebrate all our TD-Dubbers past and present
That have made this all possible.

Happy 18 Fam. And cheers to another 18.

Member Spotlight! 🔦

Meet Bryce Ikemura! Aside from being a Partnership Manager at TDW+Co, Bryce takes initiative in engaging with the community further and is Kizuna’s Board Chair and a Board Member At Large for the Gardena Valley Japanese Cultural Institute. He also does photography in his free time 📸

Some more facts about him!

☀️ Favorite color?
Black, canary yellow, and bright fuchsia!

☀️ Perfect Saturday morning?
Waking up early, making coffee, and going to play basketball.

☀️ What would he tell his younger self?
Stop buying sneakers!

☀️ Who was his onscreen idol growing up?
Will Smith. I don’t feel like there was a lot of prominent or positive Asian representation on air growing up, and my family didn’t pay for cable TV, so Will’s character in Fresh Prince of Bel Air was an embodiment of seeking authenticity in an environment that constantly others you.

APAHM is always an incredible time of year for the agency and a time for celebration of community. There will be plenty of time for that this month, but celebrations are overshadowed by the tragic news from today that former Secretary of Transportation, Norman Mineta, has passed away. He was one of the country’s highest ranking government officials, a 10-term congressman, and mentor to many of the folks we now consider to be titans of Asian American leadership across the country.

Norman has been a mentor, friend, and inspiration to so many individuals that we work with and helped lay the groundwork for countless Asian Americans who are interested in community building, in politics, and leaves a legacy that extends well beyond the achievements in his work. He is an exemplary model for the kind of excellence our agency strives for, and the kind of change we seek to drive in our work and in our communities.

Notably, Norman Mineta led the country through the 9/11 attacks and established the TSA. He was a critical advocate for the Japanese American community and supported the development of The Civil Liberties Act of 1988 which resulted in unprecedented reparations, for the incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II, that supported the development and infrastructure of the Japanese American community as it exists today.

As we mourn the loss a great leader, we know his commitment to service and civil liberties will live on our communities.

Our purpose is to be mission-minded in our work, each and every day. Our team is built on support, care, and trust. Together, we try our best to be unconventional. Not sticking to formulas and the “bad habits” of advertising but finding different ways to solve problems, old and new.

This is how we hustle.. not just working hard, or smart or playing hard but by having an openness to people and perspectives.

By embracing new things, we listen, explore and manifest positivity, cheering for ourselves, our client partners, and our communities. We have seen the impossible become possible when we advocate for them. When we take action and speak up, we can drive growth. We not only uplift ourselves, but those around us.

Comfortable or not, we choose to move forward and ahead, to make things better than before. Success is more fun when we accomplish big things with kindness and pride, always celebrating who we are, and all that we do.

At TDW+Co, our vision is our guide, our north star.

Let’s elevate the advertising and media industry. Let’s look ahead and beyond ‘multicultural advertising’ so we can know at the core what makes us human.

“Diversity” is strength. “Empathy” is for all.

Our vision is to become more than ourselves. Doing our part to be a driving force for better communications and deeper understanding. Creating a future for which we can all be proud.

04/29/2022

Our purpose is our reason for why TDW+Co exists.

We believe a multicultural marketing campaign is simply not enough. The brands and communities we serve deserve more.

We work to be the connectors. To build bigger and better relationships between brands and communities. To pick out the simple within the complex. To be clearly seen, heard and felt.

To understand first before being understood. To be a voice of our communities. To do good to do good business.

All this starts with a conversation. We strive to do the hard work, move beyond the status quo, and deliver results beyond numbers and figures.

Together, let’s invest in our communities through the power of communications moving all of us forward.
