We are thrilled to see our urban renewal project The Grocery in today’s Daily Journal of Commerce. This project transformed a defunct neighborhood grocery building into a residence and community arts hub.

Thank you for featuring our garden shed project today. In a quiet Ballard neighborhood backyard, our client longed for a more versatile studio space where she could retreat into a private office, exercise room and potting shed but also host neighbors and friends in her garden. We love this little gem…which includes a little hideout for the kiddos…

People often ask us “what is your style?”-For us we want our projects to reflect the style and personalities of our clients. We do have a predilection for soulful interiors, modern forms and mineral color schemes. For this home in West Seattle, the aesthetic palette finds its apogee in the hand crafted Mutuus Made elements that help create the moody interior.

At Mutuus our design philosophy is based on the belief that homes should be comfortable and livable while at the same time beautiful and curated. Our style mixes old with new, integrating textures and color, layered with pieces that feel travelled and have history. We have an intrinsic love of vintage furniture and materials that feature raw and natural textures balance our appreciation of color and pattern to create spaces that feel both practical and effortless.

Our Ravenna remodel project is the perfect cozy retreat to share with you this Friday. The project highlights Mutuus Made lighting and our signature custom linen micarta wall panels. Finishing touches with reading lights and hardware. This room is a ray of sun on a rainy day when we might rather just stay in bed all day. Dreamy!

Our name Mutuus is a latin word for (exchange/mutual) and embodies our studio philosophy that design is inherently collaborative and an constant exchange of ideas. Today we highlight a collaboration with Chad Robertson from and Saul Becker to make this stunning shelf / etagere for our rad clients. Stained Maple / Mutuus patina on steel doors and frames. Knurled end caps and our favorite knife hinges. 🖤

The approach for the design of this bathroom design was to infuse a sense of calm into the room. We love how the Belgian antique stone paired with a faucet gives a sense of timeless refinement. Textured / Italian vintage mirror and custom Mutuus Made pendant knurled copper with patina are making us swoon.

The materials palette for the coffee shop was inspired by the coffee itself. We experimented with repurposing coffee bags and linen to create coffee tops and cabinet paneling and custom lights. We also love how the color of the ruby coffee berries before they are roasted provides a little color // As the crisp Fall air is finally here - head to Onda for a nice warm up ☕️🍁♥️ Built by

Welcome Megan Quinn to the Mutuus team! Megan joins our studio as a Principal as a part of our leadership team. Megan is a licensed architect in Washington State, with more than fourteen years of experience, twelve of which have been in Seattle. She has worked for multiple well-renowned detail and craft focused architecture firms on projects ranging from high-end single family residential, workplace design, retail and cultural. She has a Master of Architecture from Montana State University, Bozeman, and a post-professional Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University GSAPP, New York. The extreme contrast of rural and urban climates where Megan spent her formative years led her to Seattle, where she found a balance between the city and the natural landscape.

Megan was raised in Omaha, Nebraska in an artistic family that encouraged her from a young age to explore a creative career. While attending Montana State, she took design-build fabrication courses and worked construction during the summers, including picking up construction trash in a Bobcat! These experiences gave her a deeper respect for the complexities of each project and the role of architects. She carries that appreciation through her work to this day.

Megan believes the most successful designs come from careful listening. Design conversations contribute to the development of a unique set of parameters for each project. The goal is always well-crafted, beautiful, and lasting buildings.
