Navy Recruiting Pacific Northwest
Providing Navy career, education and scholarship opportunities in Alaska, Washington, Montana, Idaho
Rate of the Week: Navy SEAL
By the time you find out a SEAL team has hit you, they’re already gone. It takes a special kind of person to qualify for this role, and if you do, you’d better be ready to prove it with your smarts, strength and willingness to march head-on into impossible situations. Because your team is the one they’re going to call in for last-ditch reconnaissance missions and operations that “never happened.” One day you’ll be swimming out of a torpedo tube, and the next day you could be dropping into enemy territory out of a helicopter. It takes intense courage to be a Navy SEAL, and that’s what makes them the best of the best. If you have what it takes, then the Navy has a place for you among the ranks of the elite.

We would like to take a moment to highlight this week’s Recruiter in the Spotlight Hull Maintenance Technician (HT) Petty Officer First Class (EXW/SW) Ricardo Sotomagdaleno. ✨
HT1(EXW/SW) Ricardo Sotomagdaleno has been in the Navy for 18 amazing years. He is originally from Mexico City, Mexico then moved to Los Angeles, California. HT1 Sotomagdaleno enlisted in El Paso, Texas! In his free time you will find him with family in the mountains, mountain biking, rock climbing, snow boarding, and once a year trying to harvest a bull Elk.
HT1 says, “I have been blessed to have a diverse career, from ships to the ground and everything in between. This has made me see how all the pieces fit and have an appreciation to every person as all of our efforts combined makes us the greatest fighting force the world has ever seen.” One of HT1 Sotomagdaleno favorite quote is “do what you hate like you love it.”
He enjoys recruiting because during his last tour recruiting in LA, “I realized I had come full circle. I was no longer the 19 year old sitting in the Navy chair looking for a future. I was the mentor on the other side affording men and women like myself an opportunity to obtain all of the American dream I was afforded.” said HT1.
