Acorn Street Shop For knitting and crochet, we have an extensive supply of yarns including wool, cotton, silk, linen and bamboo.
Needles and hooks are offered in several materials. We offer group and private classes, a wide range of books and magazines, as well as supplies for spinning and needlepoint.
The End of Summer Sale is on day two and will end this Sunday! Feeling a little overwhelmed by the quantity of yarn in the store? Check out some of these tips and feel free to share your own below!
🧶Make a list of your common yardage needs ahead of time.
🧶Know what weight you’re looking for. At Acorn we list gauge by the inch on tags.
🧶Come with a plan!
🧶Decide ahead of time if you’re looking for washable, wool, acrylic, plant based, etc.
🧶Plan out which needles and/or books you’re looking for.
🧶When you walk in the door, if you freeze, choose a corner and start there!
🧶Ask staff if you need help!
It’s normal to feel overwhelmed! There’s a lot going on. We’re here to help you and want everyone to have a good experience at the shop.

Thursday is Knit Night at the shop! Stay tuned for updates during the summer if we’ll be outdoors or indoors. Tomorrow, July 25th, the plan is to be outside. Bring your lawn chairs and WIPs!
The tour is less than a week away and sneak peeks are here! This year’s crochet pattern is a scarf designed by our very own Janet Charbonnier that will look stylish while keeping your neck nice and cozy. We’re certain it will become a staple in your wardrobe and in your project line up! The knitting pattern is a slipover designed by local designer, Jo Cottle. With lots of drape and room for styling and layering, this garment will fit in your wardrobe for all four seasons!

The is just nine days away! Here is some helpful information for the tour. Have you started making a route plan, gathering your yarn buddies, collecting your passports, and getting ready to go on an adventure?
You will need:
🎉 A tour passport (or just the stamp page). You can get it from a participating shop, or online from . We really recommend writing your name and contact info on it!
🌟 A trustworthy map/GPS/app and a car (be sure to plan for ferry times).
🌸 Tour buddies for those going in a group!
Make sure at each shop you:
🌼 Get your passport stamped;
🌼 Enter the daily drawing;
🌼 Pick up the free knit + crochet patterns;
🌼 Purchase the pattern yarn at 10% off, if you want!

We have room left in two of Rachel Weigelt’s darning classes! Rachel is a phenomenal teacher and darner and is not to be missed. Intro to Felting and Darning is suitable for beginners wanting to repair clothing and other textiles. Swiss Darning is geared towards students who have some knitting experience and a basic understanding of knit and purl stitches, knitting terms, and weaving in ends.

It’s time for the 2024 LYS Tour Art Design Contest! The wants your design for this years logo. The winner will receive a $250 gift certificate to any of the yarn shops participating in the LYS tour. Submissions are due January 31st.
It’s the end of the year! We will be closed December 25th and January 1st so that we can all enjoy the holidays with our families. On December 24th and the 31st, we will be open from 10:00 to 2:00 which is different than our normal Sunday hours.
