On Thursday, GOTR supporters came together at our 2024 Sneaker Soiree celebrating 22 years of girl empowerment! Thanks to the generosity of our community, we raised $205,047 to support girls in our community during our next season and beyond. We were honored to have Marta Pen Freitas share her inspiring story! We are grateful for each of you and the vital role you play in inspiring joy and confidence for girls in our community!

Meet our October Girl Hero, Jo! Jo has been a 5K Running Buddy and a coach, has helped organize 5Ks, served on the Board of Directors, is now an Advisory Council member, and helps lead the Sneaker Soiree Committee every year!

As we gear up for our upcoming Sneaker Soiree, we’re reflecting on last year’s event! We were honored to host keynote speaker Alison Mariella Désir -author of Running While Black and host of her own award-winning PBS show. Between our live and online auctions, raffle, wine pull and dessert dash, our generous patrons raised over $180,000 to support scholarships that allow even more girls access to our life-changing programs. We are thrilled to announce Marta Pen Freitas as our Keynote Speaker for Sneaker Soiree 2024!

A seven-time Portuguese National Champion and two-time Olympian, Marta is one of the most successful Portuguese female athletes of all time. After attending college in the USA, Marta seamlessly made the transition to life as a pro runner as she now represents the Brooks Running Brooks Beast Track Club. Outside of competition, Marta invests in the next generation of young athletes through her work in the PNW running community.

Join us on Thursday, October 17 at MOHAI to hear Marta speak and enjoy a delicious dinner and plenty of fun with other Girls on the Run supporters!
