District Judge Matt Rudzki
Matt Rudzki is the district judge for Aspinwall, Blawnox, Fox Chapel, Indiana, O’Hara, & Sharpsburg.
Congrats to Lou and Barb on getting married over the weekend!
I wish you two a lifetime of joy, love, and health together!
Tonight I had the ultimate privilege to administer the mayoral oath of office to Sharpsburg’s new Mayor, Kayla Portis. Mayor Portis is the first Black mayor in Sharpsburg’s history and second female mayor.
I have known Mayor Portis my entire life and had the honor to swear her in as a Councilwoman when she was appointed while I was mayor.
Good luck, best wishes, and Godspeed Mayor!
Congrats to Sarah and Brendan on saying "I do!" in our District Court today.
I wish the two of you a lifetime of happiness, prosperity, and love on your journey together!
"Lucky stars above you,
Sunshine on your way,
Many friends to love you,
Joy in work and play-
Laughter to outweigh each care,
In your heart a song-
And gladness waiting everywhere
All your whole life long!"

Here’s to endless love, laughter, and success on your journey together!
We had a tremendous time at Juneteenth Sharpsburg this evening celebrating the triumph of the human spirit over the bo***ge of slavery with neighbors and friends, including Sharpsburg Borough Council members Kayla Portis and Corey Ochai.
The event runs until 8pm tonight, so you still have time to check it out.
Thanks to all of the organizers and volunteers who make this annual event a reality!
An outdoor wedding on the hottest day of the year?
Cool!
Congratulations to Rachael and Drew on tying the knot today!
I wish you two a lifetime of success, joy, and happiness together.
My dearest Neighbors, Amici, and Barristers,
My staff and I are still riding the magistrate circuit west of the Alleghenies. We are entering the fifteenth hour without power and have reverted to simpler times. Nevertheless, justice delayed is justice denied. We shall press onward today settling disputes despite the conditions.
Sincerely Yours,
Rudzki, Justice of the Peace
Congratulations to Dakshi and Neil on exchanging vows and saying "I do" today!
May the two of you have a lifetime of prosperity, happiness, and joy together!

It’s been a great weekend supporting the brothers and sisters of organized labor in our region.
Joining hundreds of others yesterday for the Allegheny-Fayette Central Labor Council annual golf outing and today supporting Teamsters Local 249 Union Hall, who proudly represent all of the district court clerks in Allegheny County.
Thanks for the awesome experiences and for all that organized labor does to keep us rolling.
Thanks to this tremendous group of co-panelists with whom I had the honor of presenting a one-hour continuing legal education course today at the Allegheny County Bar Association Bench-Bar Conference.
A special thank you to everyone who attended the CLE and your impactful questions!
Congratulations to Jessica and Nick on tying the knot today!
I wish the two of you a lifetime of happiness, health, and prosperity on your continued journey through life together!
📣 Reminder 📣
If you are attending the Allegheny County Bar Association Bench-Bar Conference this year, please consider attending the Criminal Division's Continuing Legal Education course "Confronting Racial Inequities in the Criminal Legal System and Practical Reforms".
As a member of the ACBA Criminal Litigation Section, I am delighted and honored to be a member of the panel with Judge Nicola Henry-Taylor and four distinguished attorneys.
The CLE is scheduled for Friday, June 14 at 3:45 pm.
Congrats, Fox Chapel Area School District grads! May all of your wishes come true and your futures be bright. There will assuredly be bumps on the road to success but how you navigate them will deepen your resolve and strengthen your character. Best of luck!
Funnel Cake Friday and First Friday in Sharpsburg!
The kids had a sweet time eating their tasty treat and checking out a robot, police cars, fire trucks, ambulances, and a street sweeper.
Thanks to all of the organizers.
We had a blast celebrating FC Pride in the Park tonight at Allegheny RiverTrail Park with friends and neighbors!
Thanks to all of the organizers, volunteers, and vendors for putting together another amazing Pride event!
From one Kerr Kid (Class of 1997!) to a whole class of Kerr Kids, congrats grads! And good luck at Dorseyville Middle School!
Thanks to the Kerr PTO for continuing this awesome tradition.
Over the weekend I had the chance to join Fox Chapel Area School District Sports Hall of Fame inductees to welcome a new class of decorated athletes at the annual Induction Ceremony, as well as a group of graduating athletes who won championships and were awarded scholarships.
Congrats to all, but especially to the 2024 FCASD Sports HOF Class: Tom, John, Katerina, Dan, and Jeff!
Last night saw the return of Dogs on the Docket.
Thanks to Ziggy and Pecas from the Animal Friends Therapets team for joining us to help ease nerves and reduce stress for folks coming to court!
Thank you to the Borough of Fox Chapel, the Fox Chapel Police Department, Fox Chapel VFD, Foxwall EMS, and the Indiana Township Police Department for hosting the Bicycle Rodeo tonight!
The kids had a great time meeting first responders, pretending to drive police cars and fire engines, learning about bicycle safety, pedaling through the obstacle course, and getting a bunch of sweet treats.
Congratulations to Nawal Nassar Salim Sultan and Foid on getting married today!
I wish you two a long, prosperous, and happy marriage together.
I also extend my deepest thanks to Foid for his service to our Nation, who after their wedding celebration today is deploying with the U.S. Marine Corps. Good luck and be safe!
We capped off a great Memorial Day weekend with two amazing parades: the Borough of Etna-Borough of Sharpsburg-Township of O'Hara Parade and the Blawnox Borough Parade & Memorial Service.
Thanks to all of the participating VFWs and American Legions, first responders, and other organizations who made today special, as we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our Nation.
The Sunday remembrance at the Heinz Terrace War Memorial during Memorial Day weekend is always the most solemn of moments.
Members of the Etna/Shaler VFW and American Legion as well as the Sharpsburg VFW and American Legion come together to reflect on the sacrifices of the honored fallen, and also to recall recently deceased members of their organizations.
Thank you to everyone who joined today.
📢 Memorial Day Court Closure 📢
By Order of the President Judge, please note that Allegheny County Courts, including District Court 05-2-04, will be closed on Monday, May 27, 2024, in observance of Memorial Day.
Memorial Day Weekend is always a time I look forward to for many reasons, but especially because of the many honored traditions that surround the holiday.
Last year, Lydia was old enough to join me and dozens of others from Sharpsburg VFW Post 709. This year, Lorelei also got to participate in placing flags on the graves of our brave military veterans, including those who made the ultimate sacrifice, at Greenwood Cemetery in the Township of O'Hara.
I'm so appreciative to all the volunteers who came out tonight and hope to pass on my deep appreciation for our service members and their incredible sacrifices to my kids.
Thanks to The District Association and Pittsburgh North Optimist Club for hosting the Trail Mix Party and rubber ducky races tonight in Sycamore Run in Township of O'Hara Park.
There was lots of fun to be had, the weather was perfect, and we had a great time with friends and neighbors!
Rev. Scott Shaffer's service to Sharpsburg with Roots of Faith and Faith United Methodist Church (Fox Chapel, PA) has been unwavering since he arrived here in 2016.
Pastor Scott not only talked the talked, but he also walked the walked. He was the ideal shepherd, often toiling and sweating amongst the people, never afraid to get his hands calloused or his clothes dirty. When I was mayor and Sharpsburg was in need, Pastor Scott was not only there but he was also present. Through floods, the pandemic, and everything else in-between, Pastor Scott faithfully served.
We have been lucky to have Pastor Scott and in a few short weeks he will move on to his next calling in Slippery Rock, where his Bishop appointed him to serve a new church.
On behalf of our District Court and the Special Court Judges Association of Pennsylvania, I extend a very heartfelt thank you to Pastor Scott!
