So many emotions…In 30 days my son will be getting married so I went out to my shop, took a deep breath and with tears in my eyes I made the first cut. A ring pillow made with love, a keepsake that he can pass to his children.

Two chairs and two cousins…..these chairs once belonged to their grandmother and now they have taken them out of storage and have had them restored to match their own style and homes. From the wood stain to the nailheads these chairs are what custom is all about.

New rocker cushions and an ottoman refreshed with high quality foam, cotton and Kapok.

It’s been a bit since I have posted. Not because I haven’t been busy, I have. This antique platform rocker has been in my client’s family for at least 5 generations. They chose not redo the wood because it carries the memories of many years of hands resting on its arms. No need to cover her tattered clothes and broken springs with a blanket. She is refreshed and ready to carry on!

I wish the camera could pull out the true colors of this green fabric by Greenhouse fabrics. The inside back fabric is Celery F4434 and the outside back is Olive F4438. Both are heavy duty fabrics and cleanable by water. A little bling of decorative tacks and this little chair is out the door.

And the matching chair. Channel backs are one of my favorite styles. They require a little math and planning but so worth it.

I have been out of pocket due to a death in the family.

The beauty of upholstery is you get to customize it to your style. Just a few tweaks in style, a beautiful fabric by Greenhouse fabrics and two lovely chairs are going out the door. Such small chairs but each has their own different approaches to being upholstered. There are 18 individually cut and serged pieces that are comprised into making the seat cushion on the blue chair. I also like that the client opted for a boxed cushion vs the bullnose. It created the perfect way to do a pattern match with the beautiful willow jacquard fabric.

What a fun update on this little chair. Client opted for a smooth inside back to show off beautiful floral pattern. This is a heavy duty performance fabric that is kid and pet friendly. #

This performance green velvet by Greenhouse Fabrics (B9866 Lima) makes quite a statement in this reading nook. Love it when a client goes bold with color. The power of custom upholstery. .

This little footstool was given to my mom from her family’s estate. She gave it to me and asked if I would recover it. Shout out to Mikayla Fest (my daughter) for the beautiful custom embroidery work!

What do you do while your husband does frame repair and staining? Dining room slip seats. New fabric, high quality foam and these are going home today.

Sometimes you just need a refresh. New fabric and high quality foam and good as new.

I have enjoyed my break from the shop. I have spent some much needed time deep cleaning my house and letting my body rest from the rigors of upholstery but now I’m feeling the urge to get started again. I love what I do!

Last chair on the work bench for 2023. I can’t wait to show you the the finished product! It’s a gift so I can’t reveal it here for a few more days (Jan 1 to be exact) the Before…

A before and after. Box cushion vs a knife edge cushion, removed the skirt, painted the legs black upholstered in a silver geometric cut velvet fabric. What was old is new again. And it’s quite comfy.

I have been dying to post pics of these chairs but I needed to wait until the client saw them (they get the first look😉). They went home today upholstered in a beautiful Revolution Performance Fabric. I love the button detail.

I just love a chair with a story. This sweet rocker is getting ready to hold its 4th generation. The great grandma has spent lots of time in this chair probably looking out a sunny window because you can see how the fabric has faded around her as she rocked. Decked out in new foam and fabric, it is now ready to rock that sweet little bundle that is arriving soon. I’m so glad I got to be a tiny part if its story.

Not how I planned to spend the first part of my morning but when you need them you’re thankful they are around. Unfortunately I managed to lock up both my set and my husband’s. Now, back to work in the shop. I haven’t posted any furniture updates but things are happening in the shop. Updates coming. Oh, and I will be getting an extra set of keys made…they are cheaper than the locksmith😊
