2025 JUNIOR RAIDER SOFTBALL INFORMATION

We invite you all to be a part of the 2025 Junior Raider Softball program! Below is some very important information for the summer of 2025 so please read through the entire post. I do want to make note that although this program is connected with Sheboygan North Softball, the goal of this program is to improve the game of softball in the City of Sheboygan. So we do not restrict this program only to girls who will be attending North High. It is open to everyone!

Here are the program goals and expectations:

10U (Leaving 5th grade and lower in 2025)

- All players will learn to play both infield and outfield. We will also stress the importance of learning how to pitch and catch to all players.
- Players are here to learn the game of softball and to hopefully decide if this is something they want to continue playing in the future.
- With the understanding that many of these girls have never played softball before, there will be an emphasis on fun and lightheartedness while still ensuring that the players are continually working to improve their skills.

12U (Leaving 6th / 7th grade)

- Coaching will begin to focus on positions of emphasis. There will be advanced coaching of pitching and catching and all players will learn the enhanced positional skills as they gravitate towards becoming primarily an infielder or an outfielder.
- Players should be invested in becoming a stronger player with the understanding that the next level is going to be prepping them to play on a high school team.
- The coaching style is going to be much more focused than at the 10U level. There will still be time for fun and games, but the players are expected to be focused on the task at hand for the entire practice.

14U (Leaving 8th / 9th grade)

- Many of the players at this level are already in high school. This is where the coaching will focus on position-specific training. Pitchers should be looking to perfect different pitches and catchers should be ready to make the leap to Varsity level preparation.
- Players at this level should already be thinking of what it takes to be on a varsity team. Practices will be longer and more focused/intense.
- This is not a level for players that are only here for the social aspect of the game.

The plan is to gather all interest and set teams based on noted ability and positions. If we need to have a "tryout" of sorts, we will certainly do so. The coaches have several different ideas as to how we will split teams based on the number of interest forms we receive. This information will also be posted on the Junior Raider Softball page, so please help spread the word so we can guarantee enough interest to properly fill the teams we desire.

We will begin accepting interest forms immediately so please don't hesitate. It is our goal to have the team(s) at each level finalized by the end of October. If you have any questions at all (registration, program, etc.) please don't hesitate to reach out ([email protected]) or through this page.

Due to the holiday and people traveling, we will not be having open cages tonight.

Due to the combination of heat/humidity and poor field conditions, tonight's 10U practice is going to be cancelled.

In addition to the split 12U practices tomorrow evening, North High Softball open cages will return as it seems Mother Nature will be playing nice. Any 10U player that wants to come and get some work in is strongly encouraged to do so. Open cages start at 6:00PM.

Just a friendly reminder that we will have an added Pitcher-Catcher practice tonight from 5:30-6:30PM. This is for any player who has interest in these positions. We may need to get creative with space depending on the condition of the field, but we'll get it figured out.

NORTH SOFTBALL OPEN CAGES TONIGHT!!!

Weather permitting, our first open cage of the season begins tonight at 6:00PM and will go as long as girls want to get work in. All Junior Raider girls are welcomed to come join!

PRACTICE SCHEDULE

Good morning, everyone. Just a reminder that tonight's practice is from 5:30-6:30 tonight for pitchers and catchers only. If you have interest in playing in either of these positions during games, it is important that you come tonight. Tomorrow will be team practices for each group. 10U will be from 5:00-6:00 and 12U will be from 6:15-7:30.

VICTORY!!!!

I'm so very proud of our 10U team tonight for EARNING the first victory for the Junior Raider Softball program tonight with an 11-5 win over Howards Grove. Every single girl contributed and we're ready to do it again!

See you all tomorrow for our doubleheader at home!

TONIGHT'S PRACTICES POSTPONED

Good afternoon, everyone. Due to the current and upcoming rain tonight, we are going to postpone tonight's practices. We will be rescheduling these practices to tomorrow evening. 10U will practice from 5:00-6:00 and 12U will practice from 6:15-7:30.

Also - uniforms will be handed out tomorrow at practice. So even if your daughter cannot make it to practice, I'd encourage you to stop out sometime to pick up the full uniform.

PITCHER-CATCHER PRACTICE

Hello, everyone. I am going to wait as long as possible to make a decision as to the location of tonight's pitcher-catcher practice. The time will remain 5:00-6:00 but if the weather forces us inside, we will be in the Desotell Gym inside North. This gym is off the Commons next to the concession stand.

10U Practice Update

12U Practice Update

Hello, everyone. Mother Nature has decided to not cooperate with us tonight. So, I will be cancelling tonight's practice.

We will be having a "tentative" makeup practice on Thursday evening (time TBD). It is tentative as when the North Softball team wins their Regional game we will be playing that night.

There will also be an added Pitcher/Catcher practice on Friday, May 24. I know that it is the beginning of a holiday weekend, but we need to find some time to get work in. We will be practicing with pitchers and catchers at 5:00PM at North.

10U Practice Cancelled Tonight

In case you didn't get the e-mail, the 10U practice scheduled for tonight (5/7) has been cancelled due to the rain and poor field conditions. The 12U team is practicing tomorrow (5/8) at 6:30PM and will be working on hitting. Any members of the 10U team are welcomed to come and work on some defense during the same time.

Please also make sure to take the time to try on your jerseys for proper sizing and to let me know what number you would prefer.

GAME ON!

NORTH VS. SOUTH TONIGHT!!!

Good morning, everyone. As I type this, our softball game vs. Sheboygan South is still on as scheduled (4:30PM at Sheboygan North). It is Youth Night and we encourage all youth softball players - Junior Raiders and other organizations - to come and watch us play. All players will receive a free bottle of water and a free popcorn. There is also going to be a raffle for a voucher for 2 FREE Milwaukee Brewers tickets!

NO PRACTICE TODAY

Hello, everyone. I've had some folks reach out to me about practice today but there is no practice today. If I sent conflicting or confusing info I apologize.

I hope to have a practice/game schedule sent out yet today or tomorrow.

Due to the combination of the expected rain tomorrow plus the status of our field from the "wonderful" weather we've had the past week I am going to need to cancel practice tomorrow (4/7). I will continue to look at other options that can work in conjunction with the high school program. Please stay tuned.

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

Happy Friday to all of the Junior Raider Softball family and friends! I just wanted to remind everyone that our last indoor practice of the winter is this coming Sunday (3/10) at 11:00AM in the Raider Gym at North High. We will be working on offense until Noon-ish and then - depending on interest - may have a short pitching/catching session.

Also, below are the total registrations per team thus far:

10U - 12
12U - 8
14U - 7

It is our goal to have 13-14 girls per team, so please help to spread the word. I would like to have the teams mostly finalized by the end of March so we can begin outdoor practices together.

NO PRACTICE ON SUNDAY

This is just a reminder that there will be no practice on Sunday (3/3) due to a Junior Raiders Basketball tournament. Our last indoor practice will be the following Sunday (3/10) at 11:00AM in the Raider Gym. After that, we will have a bit of a break while teams are finalized and practices will then be outside at the diamonds at North.

Please continue to help spread the word about this program as we'd like to fill up and finalize our teams as soon as possible.

Happy Tuesday, all!

The sunshine and warm weather are making me foolishly hopeful that we will be outside sooner rather than later.........only Mother Nature knows, though.

I just wanted to give everyone an update on the rosters as well as give you a plan for the rest of the winter practices:

We have two more indoor practices scheduled. Please see below:

- Sunday, February 25 - 11:00AM-Noon. Defensive focus with pitchers and catchers following the main practice.
- Sunday, March 3 - NO PRACTICE DUE TO JUNIOR RAIDER BASKETBALL
- Sunday, March 10 - 11:00AM-Noon. This will be our last practice of the winter season. Focus is yet to be determined.

I plan on getting practices started up again in the middle part of April when the weather cooperates and we can be outside. By then, I hope to have the teams determined so you can expect information to come via e-mail.

Tomorrow's practice will be working all defense with lots of throwing and fielding fundamentals. The main practice will be from 11AM-Noon. Following the main practice, there will be an additional session for pitchers and catchers until approximately 12:30.

I can't remember if I put this out there already, but I wanted to let all of you know that there will not be any high school open gym tonight due to the 8th Grade Orientation that is occurring at North High. We hope to see many of you on Sunday at 11AM!

Welcome to Junior Raider Softball 2024!!!

There are many of you who are already familiar with our program, but I want to make sure I welcome all of those who aren't yet in the know about the newest youth softball program in Sheboygan and we want to invite them to join us!

Junior Raider Softball is a program for young softball players up to age 14. Although this program is associated with Sheboygan North High School, there is no restriction on where you live or what high school you'll be attending. Our goal is to give all of our athletes a great experience in a positive atmosphere while they learn this amazing game. The benefit it will bring to our local high school programs is just icing on the cake!

Our season consists of games throughout the summer competing against other local youth teams. We are contemplating joining a tournament but we need to get commitments first before we get too far ahead of ourselves.

I'm confident that the girls that participated last year had a great experience and I want everyone to have the opportunity to enjoy this game. We plan on limiting the number of girls on each team (10U/12U/14U) to 15-16 to allow cushion for vacations and to make sure each girl gets proper playing time.
