Meet Morghan, our Director of Operations! Morghan is a graduate of Mitchell College in New London, CT where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management Recreation Administration. Morghan joined The Goddard School family in 2017 in Monroe and held various teaching and leadership positions during her tenure at the school. She is excited to continue her journey here in Shelton

Meet our On-Site Operator Sarah! Sarah was born and raised in Connecticut and studied at Sacred Heart University, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology and master’s degree in education and teaching, while a captain for the D1 Women's Ice Hockey team. Sarah joined the Goddard School family in 2016 as the founding Director at the Goddard School in Monroe. As a working mother of two children who are Goddard graduates, she firmly believes that quality early childcare and education provides a strong foundation for a child's future success.

Children experience all the same emotions as adults, but they aren’t yet equipped with the tools to handle those feelings. The first step toward understanding their big feelings is helping them learn how to recognize and name their emotions. At The Goddard School - Shelton we like asking open-ended questions like “What is something that makes you happy or sad?” or “Can you show me what face you make when you are happy, sad or angry?” This gives children the opportunity to share their emotions and show what they know about them. This exercise had Goddard students using emojis to identify each emotion in honor of World Emoji Day. 😊😕😆😥😴 Give it a try with your little one!

This past Friday our sister school in Monroe celebrated their Pre-Kindergarten graduation! This year was particularly special as our on-site operator Sarah's son graduated after attending the Monroe school since 4 months of age! There is no doubt that these graduates are ready for Kindergarten and beyond!

Handwriting is fundamental to out Wonder of Learning curriculum. Our approach, based on research, teaches both uppercase and lowercase letters, and number formation. Practicing writing regularly enhances development of motor skills, communication, and letter, number, and word recognition.

The Goddard School of Alexandria (Old Town), VA, is now open! Congratulations to owners Akhil and Madhu Govil. This is the fourth location for the co-owners, who also own The Goddard School of Ashburn, The Goddard School of Ashburn Leesburg, and The Goddard School of Waldorf.
As owners & grandparents, their goal is to continue to provide a foundation of learning to all the young children in Alexandria who are the beacon of the great future. They are excited for the opportunity and look forward to serving the Old Town Alexandria community.

This morning we happily welcomed Jacqueline Burls, Goddard SVP, Chief School Support Services Officer, to our school in Monroe! One of the Toddler classrooms made this amazing "Welcome" sign featuring the word Hello in 12 languages. A wonderful example of the way our Wonder of Learning curriculum incorporates world language in daily activities!
