Pantanjali, who is considered the father of yoga, was the first to write down this step by step guide over 3000 years ago. This ancient philosophy still practiced today is intended to help any human being liberate their mind and body from suffering. Asana, or postures, are just one of the eight limbs of yoga.
In this workshop we will discuss all eight limbs and how we can apply the principles to our modern lives. We are all uniquely divine beings, and this practice can be useful to any one, no matter what age, gender, or religious belief system you observe. 🕉

We will move in a Hot Yoga Class led by Mike Thacker for 1-hour, followed by a Breathwork session also led by Mike Thacker, then we will experience a breaking of our limits by plunging into an ice bath for 3-5 min.
Hot yoga is a great way to build both strength & flexibility while detoxing the system. Our breathwork session will teach you to regulate your breath and the benefits of breathwork. Finally, our ice plunge will reduce inflammation, increase circulation and metabolism leaving you feeling rejuvenated.

Downward facing dog is a full body stretch. It stretches the feet, ankles, calves, hamstrings, spine, shoulders, chests, arms, wrists, and hands. It also strengthens the abdominals!
The head is lower than the heart, so it acts as an inversion pose. This increases blood flow to your body and can help relieve headaches, improve brain fog, and relieve mild depression.
Downward facing dog can also act as a resting posture between backbends and forward folds.
An increased amount of time spent in downward facing dog will improve shoulder strength (when done correctly) and aid in reducing shoulder injury.

If you are new to yoga and/or have a specific sensitivity or injury that you're unsure of how to proceed with, then this personalized class is for you.
The initial 10-20 minutes will be reserved for an open discussion. Your personal concerns for sensitivites and injuries will be addressed. The instructor will present a few general approaches to common yoga poses applicable to each of your concerns. Subsequently students will be led through an alighnment based sequence with a keen enphasis on modifications.
The aim here is to familiarize students with how to adjust postures and movements to suit their bodies and be able to transfer that base knowledge into any of the variety of classes offered at Alpine. Please come and begin your tailored wellness journey.
Join us on June 9th for an Ice Bath workshop (also Morgan Todesco's Birthday woo-hoo!) from 12:30 to 3:30 pm for an empowering experience that combines an hour long Hot Yoga practice with Breathwork and an Ice Plunge to follow. The purpose of an ice bath is to increase pain tolerance, connect you to your body’s autonomic functions, and ignite your energy. Some benefits of Ice baths include pain relief and stress relief. Ice baths have been used for hundreds of years to overcome challenges and ignite change.

Yin yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga where poses are held for longer periods of time, typically ranging from 45 seconds to five minutes or more. The practice targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and joints, rather than focusing primarily on the muscles like in more active styles of yoga.
