I thought hard work alone was enough for success…

I came from a single parent family with a strong work ethic. Working hard was important.

As I got older I realized hard work by itself was not enough…

• I met some people that worked very hard, but never got ahead financially
• Working smart was as important as working hard
• Passive income - “making money while you sleep” is very different than having to go work for money

I have had seasons where I have worked very hard.

However, I think it’s really important to take time to reflect on your efforts and evaluate if you’re really getting the results you want.

I take a quarterly retreat for a couple nights to reflect on my goals and change or adapt them.

It was tough to leave my job. I was making over $200,000 per year and my whole family and friend group thought I was nuts to be leaving a job that I was making such good money in.

However, I didn't wanna be 80 years old and think I really wanted to be an entrepreneur and I never tried. It's hard to leave something good to go for something, but this is a common theme in great historical biographies. 🤔

Often, the main character will have a decent situation, but leave it all to go for the dream. ✨

My dream was to be able to create enough value for people that I could help them with their financial goals in achieving financial freedom, and then I would be able to go full-time and focus on creating value for others. 🎯

This has been incredibly fulfilling for me and has allowed me to live a life with a lot more flexibility where I can travel and spend more time with my daughter. ✈️👨‍👧

Often it starts with a small investment or going to real estate or investing meetups and learning about how to get started. Sometimes investing in a deal is what really gets things moving.

I never thought I would get divorced. As a single dad in my mid-30s, I realize that sometimes life hands you the unexpected.

About this time, I went through some serious financial challenges and I didn’t know what to do.

For me, my faith has been instrumental in my journey. I know God is for me and has a plan for my life, which is really comforting when things have been difficult. Honestly, I would always choose comfort over character, but I know God has a different plan.

Now, I feel the other so that they can live out their purpose. I also want to help and modern day human slavery in the world. This is a cause I am very passionate about.

My biggest fear in business (and how I learned to overcome it)… 😨

My biggest fear was putting myself out there and being rejected. I remember when I started posting on social media about my real estate journey 🏠, and I was so nervous that someone would think I was a fake or an imposter. 😰

Pretty quickly, I understood that there is so much social media out there that if what I put out is not good, no one will view it. I was able to get over myself and my own impostor syndrome and focus on how I could help others. 💫

This is how I focused on value creation. I focused on how I could help someone else with a problem that they were having. If I was able to help them, I would be able to have a greater influence and impact more people. This would help to build the business I was creating. 🌱 💪
