Imagine the excitement of a 12-year-old girl with cerebral palsy as she’s harnessed up with zip line supports and then lifted out of her wheelchair for a 220-foot thrill ride. That’s just one of the events at Camp Horizon, the brainchild of REALTOR® Steven Sharpe and his physical therapist wife, Lindsay. For one weekend a year, kids with physical challenges get to “challenge their horizons by pushing themselves to do things they may not have experienced because of their physical limitation,” he says.

Since 2005, more than 150 kids have participated in canoeing, horseback riding, archery, and fishing. Ensuring their happiness and safety are more than 50 volunteer camp counselors and more than 20 other medical pros. Sharpe is humbled by the trust parents place in his team: “We’ve had parents tell us we’re the only people, including family members, they trust with their kids. We tell parents their kids are going to come home exhausted and dirty, but they’re going to have a great time and something they’ll talk about all year.”
