On the bottom you can see the DYS BE1104-4000kv motor in its stock trim. On the top you can see where the motor wires have been properly trimmed and then wrapped in braided wire loom. The braided wire loom serves to protect the wires from abrasions and snags and it also adds a pleasing asthetic look to the finished quadcopter.
(Sorry about the poor lighting...I have limited lighting where I currently am)
I want to extend my most sincerest apologies to all of you who follow this page for my long absence. I am in the US Air Force and have been deployed for the past several months with no access to the public internet. While I am still located in the Middle East prepping to return back to the States, I do finally have access to the public internet and am back to building on the Hellbender 122 that I was last working on.
Stay Tuned!!!
This build is a unique project and goes in the opposite direction of which most micro quadcopter projects are designed for. At the request of the client, this quadcopter is not being built for racing or sport flying; but rather, for aerial filming and for the FPV experience.
There are several unique features this micro will have that are not common to other micros. First, we are using the RunCam HD 2 (Less than 60ms latency@1080p) for both HD recording as well as for the FPV video feed. Doing so will save in overall weight (by reducing components needed) and will also reduce the build complexity for easier servicing. Second, there will be a micro GPS (with a kill switch) antenna on this build for loiter and Return To Home (RTH) functions to aid in the quality of the videos and flying fun factor. Third, the flight controller used will be a NAZE32 Deluxe (full) AIO which has the built-in On Screen Display, Power Distribution Board, 5v BEC, current sensor, voltage sensor, barometer, and compass allowing for a much lighter, cleaner, and robust flight package that will be easy to service. Last, we designed a power system that has a very low current draw allowing us to use a high capacity (1000mah/3s) LiPo with a low C discharge rating (20c) and still be inside the weight range we wanted of
Here is the GPS module that is going to be used on this quadcopter. The purpose of having the GPS is so the quadcopter can have bother Loiter and Return To Home functions.
This GPS module is very small. It's only slightly larger than a Postage Stamp. It's very light as well. This has a uBlox 7N chipset in it. The power consumption of a GPS module is substantial and its functions will not always be needed, so I am planning on installing a small power switch in line of the power wire so the GPS can disarmed when not needed which will preserve battery life ultimately, increasing flying time.
SUPER DEAL!!!
I am offering a onet-time special build and tune price of $75 for someone interested in building the new state-of-the-art SputnikFPV 117mm quadcopter. Hit me up if you are interested!
Here's a little teaser for you all!
The pics below are of a new BnF racer we are possibly going to be bringing to the retail market very soon. It will come FPV ready as shown.
I'll be posting more info about it soon when the retail build is finalized. Feel free to ask any questions.
I thought some would enjoy seeing this super handy quadcopter bundle I put together for a client. The quadcopter uses the APM 2.6 flight controller so it is fully programmable and is very autonomous.
I installed a Boscam 200mw 5.8ghz video transmitter internally that sends the video signal back to the Boscam GS920 FPV video goggles.
The client who owns this has no prior experience with RC helicopters or multicopters yet had very little trouble getting the hang of flying this one. Already he has mastered flying around taking high definition (1080p) videos from a First Person View.
With the ability to put the copter, the goggles, batteries, and charger all in one weather resistant case and throw it in his vehicle, the bundle has become extremely versatile and ready to fly in less than five minutes.
I am working in collaboration with Mike Rus on this build. His intention behind this project is to build a super stable platform for aerial footage. He wanted it to be fully programmable for autonomous flight as well. Last, he wanted lengthy flight times.
After both he and I did a bunch of research, Mike settled on the Tarot 650 folding quadcopter frame with folding landing legs. Here is the jist of this build:
-Tarot Carbon Fiber 650 folding frame
-3DR APM 2.6 Flight Controller
-uBlox Lea-6h GPS
-Sunnysky V3508-16 Motors/700kv
-Afro 30amp ESCs
-Neewer 12x3.8 Carbon Fiber Propellers
-Walkera 3 axis Gimbal (w/custom rail mounts)
-FrSky V8R7-II Receiver
-BG dual BEC 12v/5v
The build has taken quite a few more labor hours than a normal build as we have spent a great deal of attention on the little details such as equipment mounting techniques, replacing short wires with proper length wires rather than extending them, wrapping wires in braided loom, etc. This is definitely going to be a pro-level build and I anticipate pro-level performance.
..more to come!
Here is a quad that the folks at L.L. Singer wanted to build as an educational experience. The final result came out excellent for their first quad!
L.L. Singer had several young people come in to his shop and everyone worked together to build this multicopter as a team project. I headed up the training and assisted as needed. As well, I did the programming and test flight.
Here are the specs on the build:
-450 Dead Cat -style frame
-22mm 920kv motors
-KK 2.1.5 Flight Controller from White Spy Quads
-9x4.5 props
-White Spy Quads Red Series ESCs with SimonK firmware
-Turnigy 2650 3s LiPo batteries
-Turnigy 9x Transmitter and 8ch receiver
-Foscam S4000 WiFi Camera
She flies like the gentle giant she is!
In this project we installed a 16 channel network Security Camera system with an NVR to record the video streams. The cameras were all 3mp for a super clear image greater than 1080p. All of the camera feeds can be viewed live on a smartphone, computer, or on the 60" TV screen in the owner's office.
To help maintain the network integrity, we ran a complete stand-alone network for the cameras that has its own network switches and battery back up supplies.
We also installed a six zone/six source audio distribution system throughout the office and out in the shop. With this system the users are able to listen to one of six sources. Three of those sources are bluetooth receivers allowing the user to play his or her own music from a cellphone through the audio system in any given zone. The speakers out in the shop are big DJ speakers with each cabinet housing two 15" subs!!!
This is a tricopter I am building for a client to use for aerial photography and cinematography.
The build will be:
-Turnigy Talon Tricopter 1.0 frame kit
-Ardu Pilot Mega (APM) 2.6 Side Pin w/NEO 6 v2 GPS
-MinimOSD V1.0
-Neewer/Mystery 50mm 750kv motors
-Afro Slim 20 amp ESCs
-Neewer 12x3.8 Carbon Fiber propellers
-Spektrum A4030 servo
-Multistar 4000mah/3s/10c LiPo battery
-2 axis gimbal
-SJCAM SJ4000 WiFi Camera
-Boscam TS351 200mw Video Transmitter
-Boscam GS920 FPV Goggles
-Dual BEC (12v/5v) Power Distribution Board
-FrSky D4R II Receiver w/Telemetry
-Turnigy 9x (v2) Transmitter/Controller w/ER9X software & Frsky Tx Module
This a revolutionary project this man is taking up...
