One thing I have learned about acne in my experience of treating it, is CONSISTENCY and dedication matter. There is no quick fix. This sweet, male client is part of my Acne Bootcamp program. He first came to see me feeling completely stumped and exhausted by trying to keep his acne away. “I feel like I’ve tried everything” he said. At his consultation, I noticed he had combination acne: Inflamed and non-inflamed. This type can be a bit tricky to address, as both need different product ingredients, as well as lifestyle/diet changes, to achieve clearance. I was honest with him, telling him that I will NOT be able to get him results without his commitment to using his homecare regimen. That this would be a team effort.

We are not completely done yet, but I am so proud of him for his commitment and dedication! We agreed we would like to continue monthly visits to address some of his residual concerns, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) and scarring.

The Acne Bootcamp is a great tool for you if acne is something you’re struggling with. I consult and treat clients daily, and so commonly I hear how antibiotics, creams, and other prescriptions just aren’t working for them. Acne is multi-factorial and requires more than a medication; it is best treated internally and externally for sustainable results. There is no magic wand. But with consistency and patience, the right products, and the right treatments.. a new and improved self confidence awaits ✨

Dermatologists treatment plan for acne usually goes something like this:

𝗧𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗼𝗶𝗻 (when that doesn’t work and causes more irritation than relief)
↓
𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 (when that doesn’t work)
↓
𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 (when that just makes you p*e a lot and stops working)
↓
𝗕𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 (puts you on it or switches brand/method to control the acne, but in many cases makes it worse)
↓
𝗔𝗰𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗲 (last resort, with extremely high risks and side effects, usually helps but if you stop taking it acne resurfaces)

This order may vary depending on the provider, but this approach is pretty standard. When one thing doesn’t work, they move to the next medication. Then the next… and the next.

If this approach has worked for you, great! I just believe that treating acne more holistically is more sustainable long term.
