June is Men’s Mental Health Month 💚

Men carry many day to day stress and burdens that they have been taught to bottle up. Men make up 80% of the world’s su***de rate and often never seek help. Take time to support, encourage, listen, love on and pray for men around you this month.

Men, remember that it is okay to not be okay and you are not alone in this world!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month! Take time to educate yourself and others about the signs on depression, anxiety, suicidal tendencies and other mental health symptoms. Be a support system to those around you!

Remember to check on your strong friends 💚

Been MIA for a few months. There’s been quite a few changes and trials that have taken place, but just know I’ll be coming back soon bigger and better! Right now, God told me to slow down and lean on him. I’m taking this time to strengthen my faith and appreciate Him in all the things around me. This will only help me be a better mental health advocate and all around person! Just know I can’t wait to get back to you 💙💛💚🥹.

September is Su***de Awareness Month. More often than not, su***de is an expected event that no one sees coming. Education is KEY when it comes to su***de prevention. Don’t assume just because someone is smiling, laughing, or doing everyday activities, they they aren’t suffering or contemplating su***de. Be apart of the change! Learn the signs and don’t be afraid to ask for help! You are not alone and you don’t have to go through it alone. Be a listening ear for anyone who may need it. A simple “are you okay” or “I love you” can save a life. We are all experiencing many dark times and feel hopeless. Let’s give each other hope to keep fighting and reminding each other that we have a purpose and that we are loved! Please before you think to end it, know that if no one else is here, I WILL BE FOR WHOEVER NEEDS ME! You can overcome your dark days. Don’t Give Up! ***deawarenessmonth ***deprevention

It’s Friday Eve! Almost the weekend, but don’t wait until then to relax and decompress! Remember that Self-Care = Mental Health Care. Take care of yourself so that you can be the best version of yourself 💛💚💙 ✨

Understanding the Severity of Mental Health is so important! Do not underestimate the strength of depression!! If someone confides in you that they are struggling mentally, DO NOT PUT THEM OR THEIR FEELINGS to the wayside. Depression does not equal just “a bad day.” While yes, you can experience short term depressive episodes, most people diagnosed with depressive disorder struggle everyday. Just because they smile, laugh, or don’t mention everyday that they’re struggling, doesn’t mean those around them should assume they are okay. Everyday is a battle and we must remember this in supporting those we love. We are all busy, but if you know someone who has expressed their mental health status to you, try to take time to truly check on them and make sure they are not in a detrimental situation mentally! Having someone who truly cares can make all the difference!!

Be Proactive & Supportive 💛💚💙

Transparency Tuesday is Here! This Week, Love & Lunacy is tackling Functional Depression. Many people suffer from depression, but don’t know how to recognize it or the symptoms. People tend to think depression is only displayed through sadness or suicidal thoughts. There are many levels to depression and it can manifest itself in different forms. Understanding this can help you help yourself or others around you! Just because someone is smiling or engaging in daily activities, does not mean they are not suffering from depression. This misconception can lead many to suffer in silence and is why 7.1% or 17.3 million of the population struggle with depressive disorder. Learn the various symptoms and educate yourself and those around you on them. Everyone is different! New Blog Post will be up today as well on this topic and a Vlog on Thursday!

Good Morning and Happy Monday! We all know Monday’s can be a drag, but for some of us, everyday can be one. We don’t feel okay and may often get the infamous question of, “are you okay?” and we’re not, but we don’t know how to articulate it. If you find yourself struggling you on how to answer the question, here are a few options to help guide the conversation regarding your mental or emotional state. Choose a response that prompts your follow up of either not wanting to discuss it or that your are seeking help or support. Don’t ever feel forced to discuss anything if you are not ready. If you do need help, don’t be afraid to ask! You are not alone. Also, please take time to view, like and share the latest Vlog on YouTube at https://youtu.be/Exrf48rkwmQ titled, “It’s Okay to Not be Okay.” It is also up on the website at www.loveandlunacy.com !

Triggers are hard to avoid. They tend to happen unexpectedly, and leave us in a bad head space because we didn't have time to prepare. Although the triggers themselves may not be avoidable, the way you react mentally and emotionally are. Don't give life to the negativity around you. We must always be prepared for triggers when dealing with our mental health. 3 Keys to avoiding an explosive reaction or mental breakdown is to; Take a Deep Breath, Walk Away, and Control Your Thoughts and Emotions. Negativity is inevitable, so trying you best to control how you react to situations is imperative. Never give the enemy power over your peace!
