We are back open today as normal. The phones will turn on at 8:30am.

Due to the deteriorating road conditions we will remain closed tomorrow, January 16th.

We plan to re-open on Wednesday with a possible delayed start time, which we will announce tomorrow evening once we evaluate the road conditions. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Due to the potential for hazardous road conditions, our clinic will remain closed tomorrow, January 15, 2024. We prioritize the well-being of our patients, employees, and their families. We appreciate your understanding and stay safe! ❄️☃️

Pictures from our pumpkin decorating contest Tuesday! Thanks to everyone who voted! The 1st place winner was our lab/xray department with the Grouch.

The 2nd place winner was Pod 3 (Dr's Eskander, Landry, Mercer and Kristi Gaspard, PA-C along with their nurses) with the bubble bath pumpkin. They were all so creative!

We are excited to announce that Jessica Cook, MD has joined The Family Doctors and will start seeing patients on August 1st. She is a Shreveport native and is accepting new patients.

Peggy Brown began her career with The Family Doctors on June 18, 2001; she almost made the 22 year mark. She has been a familiar face to our patients for many years and will be missed. Thank you Peggy for the years of service at TFD!!! Happy Retirement!!!!! 🥳🥳🥳

We are having phone system issues this morning from last nights storm. A technician is on site and hopefully we will have the issue resolved in the next 30 minutes.

TFD’s own Dr. Jode Burgin is undergoing treatment for breast cancer. One thing we know for sure, the cancer picked the wrong woman to mess with!!

She goes above and beyond for our patients and her co-workers and is always willing to help out in any area of the clinic when needed. Dr. Jode Burgin joined The Family Doctors last year and is still accepting new patients. Call 318-797-6661 to schedule an appointment.

Dr. Burgin was born in Cebu City, Philippines. Her dad was a pediatrician and her mom was a registered nurse. They moved to Nigeria where her parents worked in health care and ran the local vaccination program. Their family then moved to Long Beach, California. She graduated from the University of California, Irvine then went to medical school at the American University of the Caribbean, School of Medicine in Saint Martin. This opportunity allowed her to train in multiple cities including Brooklyn, Queens, Detroit, Phoenix and Los Angeles. Dr. Burgin believes that being able to practice in different parts of the United States gave her a broad perspective of medicine. She completed her family medicine training at Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan located in Metro Detroit. After completing her residency, she joined the faculty as a family medicine attending with an emphasis in obstetrics. She moved to Shreveport in 2015 and since then, has loved taking care of the North Louisiana region. Dr. Burgin specializes in acute and chronic illness, preventative medicine, weight loss, women’s health and mental health.

Dr. Burgin is married to Dr. Aaron Burgin who is an interventional radiologist at Willis Knighton. In her “free” time, she is busy with four young, wonderful and energetic children. She loves to go to the beach, bake and travel. She still often visits her family in California.

Our community has been hit hard by both COVID and the flu. We are short staffed due to some of our staff members being sick or due to their family members being sick. We are doing our very best to continue to see all of our patients in a timely manner.

Phone Calls:
We are experiencing the HIGHEST CALL VOLUME of phone calls in the history of The Family Doctors. We will do our best to get to your phone message as quick as possible, but with staffing and the volume of patients we are seeing, it is greatly delaying our response time. Your phone call will be addressed by the end of the day. Please do not make multiple calls asking when your call will be returned.


COVID Testing:
We are currently out of rapid COVID tests and are having to send the samples out to a reference lab which has a 24-48 hour turn around. There are other testing sites offering rapid testing and you can find those sites by going to the Louisiana Department of Health at www.ldh.la.gov . If you tested positive on a home COVID test, you should presume you are positive and quarantine appropriately.


Scheduling an appointment:
Keep in mind that we do offer self-scheduling for routine office visits and sick visits through our website at www.famdocs.com. Self-scheduling is easy and bypasses the need to call for an appointment.

CDC Guidelines for COVID Quarantine and Exposure:
Just to recap the current CDC guidelines.

If you test POSITIVE (fully vaccinated or non-vaccinated):
Stay home for 5 days
After day 5, if you no longer have symptoms or your symptoms are resolving, you may leave quarantine WITH A MASK ON FOR THE NEXT 5 DAYS
Stay home if you develop a fever (past the 5 day mark) until you have been without fever for 24 hours

If you are FULLY VACCINATED and were exposed to someone with COVID:
Wear a mask for 10 days, no need to stay home unless you are having symptoms. Isolate and test if symptoms develop.
You may test on day 5 if possible, however tests are limited and you may just continue to wear mask around other people.

If you are UNVACCINATED, have not completed the vaccination series, or it has been OVER 6 months and you are NOT BOOSTED and have been exposed to COVID:
Stay home for 5 days. Then wear a mask around others for 5 days. Isolate and test if any symptoms develop.
If you are unable to quarantine, then wear a mask around others for the full 10 days.
