This handsome couple from Shreveports past found their way to me recently. They were in need of a little tlc suffering a number of ailments. She had even suffered a small tear in the canvas. They returned home today just in time to help celebrate the holidays.

Struggling to find the right gift for that person who has everything? I’ll bet they don’t have an English rosewood campaign whiskey coffer like this rare find. Circa 1810.

The shop will probably be closed most of Friday the 28th. My dentist has a midlife crisis to pay for so we’re doing a little work on my teeth 🦷 😵. If you’re feeling adventurous you can call and see if I decided to open later in the day, or if I decide to keep it shut like my mouth. 😵‍💫

In 1743 a process of layering copper and silver together was discovered and became a popular way of reducing the cost of making decorative silver items until the process was replaced by electroplating beginning in 1840. Early examples like this exceptional pair of Georgian Rococo candlesticks circa 1770 used sterling silver appliqués to hide joints in construction and make heavy relief elements that could not be made with the layering method.
These would make a fine addition to any Thanksgiving Day table.
